Hello, I'm a first timer I'm afraid so no success story to share yet. I am having e/c tomorrow and only have 5 follicles so I'm guessing a maximum of 5 eggs. How are you feeling after your e/c?

Good luck for tomorrow ! I hope it goes well!
It's not that bad to be fair. I don't feel too bad- just a bit sore. Nothing more than period cramps really. Feel a bit drowsy from the anaesthesia - so just chilling.

Glad you're feeling ok. I'm having my e/c done in Aberdeen and they don't give you a full anaesthetic, just iv pain relief and a sedative tablet. How long will you have wait to find out how many of your eggs fertilised?

Yes - my last cycle resulting in my now 3 year old had only 4 eggs retrieved. I asked for them to perform imsi which I’m glad I did. I’ve had cycles where I’ve had up to 10 eggs but no success. It’s just luck

My IVF cycle with my now four year old daughter produced four eggs, two of which fertilised. Of those two one is obviously now DD and the other has been frozen. I was very upset when I found out that only four eggs have been retrieved, however quality is much more important than quantity. As my consultant said, you only need the one golden egg! Wishing you the best of luck.

Yes, me! 2nd round of IVF only produced 3 follicles & 2 eggs, treatment only continued as I had successful fertilisation on 1st round, my consultant said it only takes 1 egg and he was right, DS is now 15! Good luck x

@FizzyC - hoping to find out in next few days- estimated transfer is Sunday :)

The retrieval honestly isn't as bad as I thought- it's over so quickly XX

Thanks everyone else for your success stories- feeling so much better. Just hoping for that 1 lucky egg x

I got 10 eggs but only one made it and that one is now my 5 month old. It’s all about quality and not quantity.

Wishing you lots of luck x

We got 3 eggs at e/c this morning. Not bad since we only had 5 follicles. Fingers crossed they all fertilise 🤞

@Lrv1987 good luck for Sunday. Got the call this morning to say that all 3 eggs have fertilised normally. Hoping to get at least one to blastocyst stage by Monday but depending on how they are looking on Sat, we may do the transfer then. The waiting is so nerve wracking throughout this whole process.

Hi all, I’ve been stalking these boards through my treatment and am at the same stage as you guys. Had my egg collection yesterday; 18/09 and had 10 collected, 3 were too small and 2 have definitely fertilised and one potential. I must admit, I was absolutely gutted when the Embryologist told me that only 3 had got this far. But after reading some of the stories here, feel a bit more positive that it’s all about quality, not how many. Good luck to us all! Flowers

@Lrv1987 thanks - look forward to hearing how you get on. Everything crossed for you 🤞

@Ailsnics - how did you find your e/c go and how are you feeling today? I'm still a bit sore and tired from the drugs but the emotional side of it all is much harder.

@FizzyC e/c was fine yesterday, wasn’t that sore at all. Apparently had everyone in fits of laughter at my drug-induced banter in the room! Confused
Agree on the emotional side; been tears this morning to feeling completely hopeless to trying to look on the bright side that I still have 3 chances. Are your clinic calling you tomorrow too with an update?

Only 2 eggs and one is my 14 month old daughter, the other is frozen! Quality not quantity SmileSmilexxx

Ladies, an old veteran popping in to say:

Cycle 1: Failed to progress and no collection
Cycle 2: 3 eggs, 2 blastocysts, 1 transferred and I became pregnant but sadly miscarried at 6w4d
Much immunology testing which identified high NK cells and thrombophilia
Cycle 3: Unsuccessful frozen cycle
Cycle 4: 5 eggs at collection, 3 fertilised, 2 transferred on Day 3, one (now 7 year old) daughter :)

And her sister arrived less than 18 months later with no intervention at all!

as @2018mummytogirl said, quality not quantity. Much love and best wishes to all of you going through it.

@Ailsnics I was the same with the drugs and hardly felt a thing. My partner said it was fascinating watching everything. The embryologist said he will call again on Sat to confirm whether transfer will be that day or Monday.
