I’ll hopefully be around this time.
The doctors given me metformin to take to help prevent ohss. Then next week I need to ring the hospital to find out if I can start noristerone to bring on a bleed to start the injections. I’ll be on short protocol.
How you feeling about it all? I’m feeling a bit nervous about it all but excited at the same time. I’ve never had a hospital procedure before.

I'm guessing it's your first cycle then?
I have a 4 year old from my first cycle of IVF. This will be my second cycle and hopefully successful too. I do feel more relaxed than last time, having gone through the process before.
I got mild OHS last time around, fingers crossed you get started soon! X

Hi guys, hoping I can join this thread? I've just started my 2nd cycle short protocol. First time round was long protocol but didn't respond very well at all with 4 follicles, 3 eggs 1 fertilised but unsuccessful due to poor quality. It was really frustrating (I'm 28 so they expected quality to be high despite low response), but fingers crossed this time round I'll get more eggs!!

Have any of you been trying additional supplements? I've been on the usual vitamins + folic plus Ubiquinol and (the seemingly controversial) DHEA :/ also cutting processed sugar out my diet. Hoping it will all help with egg quality!

Yep this is my first round. I’ve had 18 months of tests etc and three rounds of clomid (which did nothing). I don’t ovulate or have any periods, but I have a good number of follicles which I think is why they’re worried about Ohs.
I’m taking inofolic, vitamin e, omega 3 and a multivitamin currently

@StillHoping27 sorry to hear things didn't work out 1st time around. Hopefully it gave your doctors a test run for a successful cycle this time though. I haven't heard of DHEA or Ubiquinol. I'll have to do some research :) any help appreciated

@C88M did they tell you how many follicles? From memory (and I'm going back 5 years!) I'm sure I had 20 odd last time...they got 20 odd eggs too...most were useless and just a result of the over-stim. I had 2 good enough left which were implanted and 1 made it (to be my 4 year old).

I haven't started taking even folic yet. Must get some tomorrow. My centre have advised to switch to full fat milk also. Apparently there's new research to show it affects lipids of some sort- and helps with implantation. Need to read up on that.

After Clomid I had 26 follicles, 14 one one ovary 12 on the other but my womb lining was only 3mm. It did double to 6mm after 3 weeks of oestrogen tablets.
I can’t believe how many things there are to know about and things that might affect it (and how little I knew before Blush).
My potential timelines mean I could be testing the day of my sister in laws baby shower!

Hi @PixiePal I had my run through appointment today, I am doing a short protocol, I start norethisterone next week with EC planned for 14th Oct so we can be cycle buddies!

I am 38, second cycle, first cycle ended with MMC at 10 wks Sad in May. I have low AMH and only had 3 eggs last round. Struggling to find the right head space for this cycle. Good luck all!

PixiePal · 11/09/2019 06:58

@WorriedButterfly I'm not too far behind you in age. My AMH is ok for my age, being over 35, but still not as would/could be if I was younger. Would be good to keep in touch in the lead up to W/c 14/10.

I'm hoping I feel ok when I start injections next Thursday. I have a demanding job and travel. I've chosen not to discuss it with work or friends this time around. I learned a lesson from my first cycle, as people would politely ask questions all the time. Hoping this tactic helps to keep it all chilled and calm and I'm not constantly thinking and talking about it....

Hi ladies I start stims tomorrow evening - doing short protocol mild ivf so egg collection will be within 2 weeks (although see my other thread about PGS testing stress this morning 😬)

This will be my second EC I'm 36 AMH was 12.9 before I had surgery 8 weeks ago and heard that that can reduce it further

1st EC January 2019 14 collected 12 mature only 3 average quality blasts.
FET 1 - BFN
FET2 - double FET - ruptured ectopic

I have no tubes left due to 2 ectopics as well as 5 mc so going into this with zero expectations x

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted good luck for tomorrow, we're all here if you need us. I'm sorry you've had to go through so much. Well done for still fighting on. You reached out to me when I needed advice of mc/D&C options - thank you! X

How’s everyone feeling on their injections?
I find out tomorrow if I start noristerone tomorrow which is exciting. My body seems to be getting used to the metformin too which is good as I don’t constantly feel sick!

Hiya all. I might join in a couple of weeks, find out if I start my next FET at beginning of October.
Glad your getting used to the Metformin, it took me a bit to get used to as well, but did help with a nice bit of weight loss lol!
Xx

I'm doing ok! Day 7 of stims and first day taking cetrotide (to prevent premature release of follicles)

I do feel a lot fatter this week though!

Day 6 scan yesterday and had 4 @ 10/11mm and then quite a few at 8mm so hoping tomorrow's scan shows that they are all growing as they should

StillHoping27 · 17/09/2019 18:07

Can't wait to get the injections over with but at the same time that would mean starting those awful pessary things 😂

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted I think I'm similar timings to you. Egg collection is Friday if all goes well this week.. first scan showed 6 decent size follicles which for me is such a relief as I didn't respond well at all last time. Hopefully they have all grown for my next scan tomorrow. Just hoping they contain eggs of good quality!

C88M · 18/09/2019 17:28

@DawnK77 I’m quite liking the weight loss part too! Grin

@StillHoping27 @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted Hope your scans showed the follicles growing today

The hospital have said I can start the noristerone today! So if it all goes well will be starting injections next week.

StillHoping27 · 18/09/2019 18:43

Scam showed 8 follicles but 1 was really big (25mm) and the rest 8-13mm. They called me whilst I was at work to say I should cancel as realistically only the 25mm is big enough and postponing to Monday won't work either. I'm devastated and don't really understand why they didn't tell me this in my appointment (and don't understand the reasons why I can't keep stimming and postpone EC to Mon but I guess I have to trust their judgement!)

Hoping you guys all get better results xx

@StillHoping27
That's rubbish!! That's a massive jump in growth from your scan earlier in the week?
Did they say why they couldn't just keep you stimming to grow the others since there are more of them and accept that the biggest one will be over mature?

Or I've heard of some clinics swapping someone into IUI - giving you the trigger to release the big follicle so at least you don't waste the egg?

Had my second scan today - 2nr at 14mm and the rest 9/10mm so him hoping they catch up otherwise I'll be in a similar position I think x

StillHoping27 · 19/09/2019 15:29

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted Keeping everything crossed for you. 9 to 14 isn't as big a gap as mine were so I'm sure you'll be fine xx

I asked them if I could have a trigger injection and try naturally but they said it's too risky in terms of multiple pregnancy!! So very contradictory... They've essentially said there's very little chance of getting even 1 egg if I go ahead with egg collection but I can't have a trigger in case all follicles release an egg and I end up with octuplets(!).. doesn't make sense to me but then again I'm no Dr ..

I'm talking to Create London and Zita West to get their opinion about future cycles.

Does anyone have experience of either of these clinics?

@StillHoping27 sorry to hear they've cancelled your cycle. How frustrating!? Hope you're ok.

I'm starting Buserilin tonight to begin the the down regulating process. I don't think any of you ladies have done long protocol from what you've shared, so quite possibly won't have done the Buserilin period xx

I'm with Create Birmingham and really like them and am actually having egg collection on Monday (🤞) at Create London St Paul's as we are hoping to PGS Test and the embryologist is working out of London next week

Hi @PixiePal. Thanks. No this is my second ivf cycle. 1st last year on paper was a great result lots of embryos, implanted a "top grade" with 4 in the freezer... I had a somewhat complicated miscarriage and pgs testing confirmed the 4 in the freezer were abnormal and had to be destroyed.

We'd already had a rocky road to get to that point so despite my age, we took 11 months out to regroup as I think I would have lost the plot if things went wrong again - prior to 1st round of ivf we had a late miscarriage at 20 weeks with a shocking labour, followed by a ruptured ectopic in June last year🙄.

I'm pleased to be starting again. I'm doing a long cycle, so the down reg starts in the morning. It's going to be norethisterone for 7 days at which point I'll add in Buserelin until I go for my initial scan.

How about you?
