Been ttc #2 for over 2 years. I'm 43 this year so know time is against me and as I have a child and age knew I had no NHS options but the doctor kindly took blood and I was advised at the end of last year that there was no reason I couldn't fall pregnant and everything was "normal".

Decided to get some private testing done and the results are not good.
It's already cost £175 and I'm loathed to pay for a follow up appointment as I don't think I have any viable options (drugs, ivf etc).

Can anyone help interpret my results for me and tell me if I am reading them right?

My AMH level is 4.7 which is shown as "normal" but I think whilst its normal for my age its actually v low.

The report states under predicted response to controlled ovarian stimulation is reduced, maximal strategy recommended. I don't know what maximal means?

It also says due to age and low AMH there is a poor prognosis of getting pregnant with my own eggs.

The scan shows that there were 8 follicles

I would say your results are normal for your age.......unfortunately OP IVF success rates for 43 and overs is like 1% so I'm
Not sure I would go down that route either. You could try a round of natural ivf - where they only collect the one egg your body selects to ovulate that month - that has better success rates where you have low AMH and not likely to respond well to ivf medication

Thanks for replying.
I thought the same so looks like I need to accept it's not going to happen

Yes, I think that level of follicles and AMH is normal for age (I was told 8 follicles was average for age 40 - possibly you actually have more than average for 43? idk).

This might seem a bit leftfield, but have you tried any mind/body stuff like hypnotherapy? There are studies showing it doubles conception rates for both natural and IVF pregnancies. I had it when on my last shot of IUI before going down the IVF route, and got pregnant that month. I would look for somebody who specialises in fertility if you decided to do it.

Thanks, I'll have a look into hypnotherapy. I was also thinking of trying acupuncture

Hi, your stats are similar to mine, although my AMH is lower at 2.9
I had 2 miscarriages last year and nothing since. The clinic I went to had said I could try IVF but I may just mc again if successful. They suggested to either continue to try naturally or consider DE.
I started accupuncture last year, which I believe helped me conceive before the mc so will continue that, but the ticking fertility timebomb is an awful thing when we want this so much.
Wishing you the best of luck
