2dp5dt BFN

Hi all

Well, I’ve gone ahead and done something silly. I tested at 2dp5dt and it is a stark negative, not even a hint.

I know it’s early (less than 48 hours) but I feel like I’m already out as it’s 7 days before period would be due and all these tests say they have like 99% accuracy 6 days before and all this. Plus all the stuff you read online. Why do I do this to myself?!

On my first cycle (pregnancy, mmc at first scan) I didn’t test until beta and it was torture. But this might turn out to be worse!

Has anyone out there had a bfn at this stage and gone on to have a successful pregnancy? I need some hope!

Thanks all x

Put the tests away. It's way too early. I've seen a few people get a very faint positive at 5dp5dt but not earlier. I've always waited until 9dp5dt that way it's a clear result with ifs or buts, although I think 7dp5dt you would see something dark enough if it's there. I might be biased to waiting as I hate testing. Good luck.

48 hours isn't long enough for an implanted embryo to start producing high enough levels of hcg......have you had any symptoms???

I'm 3dp5t (dFet) - I don't have any symptoms - no cramps or anything and am worrying that this cycle has failed (it's our second transfer after a failed one in March) x

Thank you for replying so quickly ladies - so nice to know I’m not alone in this!!

I think you’re right, I need to put them away for now! I was so strong willed the first time, but I think after the horror of losing my first baby I don’t want any nasty surprises! Not that you are ever really safe with all of this :(

We are so close together! I’m a donor egg FET too :) I’ve been tired and had a few twinges with sore (.)(.)

But tbh, I felt all these things last round. This time they are weaker. But then I found that I’ve reacted to the meds in general a lot better this time so everything has seemed weaker, yet my lining was 3mm thicker than last time!

It’s absolute torture!

Lots of women say they have no symptoms though and go on to have BFP!

It is absolute torture. I had lots of twinges with my first fresh cycle, BFP (MMC) and I felt nothing with my first FET which was also a BFP (also MC). I'm dreading going into my next FET after 2 MC. Just try to keep your mind occupied, the time will pass bloody slow but you will get there.

It's complete torture! I had a day or two in my last failed cycle of being lightheaded and feeling "off" and that ended in BFN - this time I'm really tired but I think it's just the toll all this is taking. I had a naturally conceived miscarriage in April (my 5th loss) and I think my heart just hurts now

(I will admit I did take an ovulation test this morning as these can pick up hcg and it was positive)

I think I'm going to test tomorrow with a pregnancy test - that will be 4dp5dt - so 9 DPO - we also tried naturally this month to triple our chances

I am so so sorry to hear about both of your miscarriages. It’s just so cruel and unfair, particularly after the ivf journey to get there in the first place.

That’s got to be a positive sign with the ov test! Wishing you all the luck in the world!

Too, too early! Give yourself a break! I would have been astounded if you’d seen a line in that time frame!

I didn’t dare test that early. The earliest I tested was 8dp5dt and I got a bfp. I’m not entirely sure I’d have got a positive much before that.

Maybe in a week or so? Good luck!

Thank you windy. That makes me feel better!

I swear I am a very rational person really, but this ivf just throws all sensible thought out the window!

With my last FET (hatching blastocyst) I could see a hint of a line at 3.5DPT and 4DPT. My official testing day wasn’t till 10DPT and the nurse looked at me like I was completely mad when I told her how early I had tested. I think 3 or 4 DPT is right on the margins of how early you can test, and even then you are still likely to get a BFN even if you are pregnant, so you are still too early! Good luck though!

My clinic wouldn't take a result less than 11dp5dt. Far far to early. Its really tough though. I'm doing a donor egg cycle in 5 weeks so ask me in 7!

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted How did you get on with your test today? I’ve got another BFN :(

It's probably not implantated yet! You're going to drive yourself mad if you test everyday. Wait a week at least.

You’re right Alice. I need to just stop. I think I’m going to get up and go for a walk first thing tomorrow, take my mind off of it and get some exercise in!

@Eggcellent29
Tentative BFP on FRER (4dp5dt) but could be the trigger shot..... But not getting hopes up. Last time I had a BFP this early it was a chemical and I've also had 4 miscarriages and an ectopic. We did transfer 2 this time though and also tried naturally to triple our chances.

You need a mantra.... repeat after me “testing early is not my friend.”

Do not test early. It does not put you out of your misery. It does not help. If you get a negative before your OTD, you naively hope it’s because you’re testing early. And if it is still negative the day before your OTD you still hope it’s just because you tested early and cling onto that teeny tiny bit of hope that on the actual official test day you’ll get a clear positive .

And if you test early it’s positive, you don’t really believe it and convince yourself that by your actual test day it’ll no longer be positive.

I wish I hadn't tested early - just did another FRER and what was a clear BFP last night is now hardly visible so I think this is a chemical x

@EarlGreyT You’ve hit the nail right on the head there. Last time I didn’t test at all, but I was just as much of a mess. I think the upshot is that it’s a horrible time and nothing you do or think will make it any better!

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted Oh dear, that sounds absolutely horrible and so difficult to get your head around! There are so many things that can affect your hormone levels, maybe try waiting a couple of days and trying again? Yes, I know how completely and utterly hypercritical I am being here!!!

I’m suffering horribly from side effects. Today and yesterday I’ve been crampy, feeling sick all the time (not actually been sick, but burping lots and throwing up in my mouth - sorry TMI!!!), exhausted and absolutely killer headaches. It just doesn’t feel worth it when you’ve got a BFN staring you in the face!

A quick note for anyone who may be looking at this thread later on!

I didn’t go on to get a positive (a very very faint one!) until 5dp5dt (or 6dt depending on how you judge Frosties!) in the evening on an FRER

I don’t know if the pregnancy will turn out to be viable, but please don’t put yourself through what I have over the last few days! Whatever the outcome of this, the sadness and hopelessness I felt over the last few days was not necessary and certainly won’t have changed anything.

From the biggest hypocrite in the world, please put the tests away. I didn’t test on my first round and I have this time - this time has been a million times more distressing!!!

Baby dust to all you wonderfully powerful women

@Eggcellent29 tentative congratulations!

I wish I hadn't tested so early! I'm still getting positive FRERs - a little bit darker than yesterday - but if I had waited to test till today I'd have been over the moon with the test result (it's darker than the one I had at 11DPO with my last miscarriage) - I'm going to see how the next couple of days go.....

Are you having any symptoms?? I feel NOTHING! 😬

Thank you @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted :) I am very aware that this is just one step in the journey, especially after my previous loss at my first scan. But we have to celebrate our victories where we can, Lord knows we cry over the losses! Today, we are both pregnant and that’s all you can ever really be sure of in all of this

Congrats on the positives! Glad to hear they are still coming up for you :) From what I understand from friends who have been pregnant, the darkness can change with so many factors that it’s hard to judge, like levels of hydration, stress, how much you’ve drunk and so forth. So try not to read too much into it if you can - a positive is a positive! And that’s more than we had this time last week, haha :)

I keep repeating to myself “Different pregnancy, different baby, different outcome” !

I’ve got a lot of symptoms, but who can say if they are real or just the meds?! Nightmare. But since transfer I’ve had

Headaches
Dizzy spells when standing
Weird pains in uterus area
All manner of strange digestive things (I will spare you the details)
Acid reflux/sick in mouth feeling

But all these things can be meds side effects! And they all come and go like the wind. Every woman is different! It is so so early, which is what makes me think they come from the meds as little embryo couldn’t possibly be having that much of an effect on me already!

Only thing I can say I’ve had on both cycles is an increased heart rate (increased 4bpm since transfer this time and around 2/3bpm in same time frame last time) and that’s only because I wear a Fitbit so could look back!!

Also, I noticed that in the week before my first little one passed away that my elevated heart rate had started to drop.

@Eggcellent29
Keep us posted on your journey.
My OTD is Wednesday for a blood test and I have 2 FRER left - 1 for Monday 1 for Tuesday

Increased heart rate has always been a pregnancy indicator for me too - I don't wear a Fitbit but can hear my heart ponding in my ear at times so I know it's elevated too

🤞🤞🤞🤞for both of us x

Thank you @LillyLeaf :) It is so hard, all of this. I won’t say I didn’t shed any tears during my first 2ww (I didn’t POAS at all) but deffo not as many as I have this time! Evil little things. Wishing you all the luck in the world ❤️ Do you have your dates to start your next round?

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted How did you get on this morning? I did think of you when I was POAS myself, is that weird? 😂😂
