Trying naturally same month as FET

Would you or wouldn't you to not waste what could be a perfectly good egg??

I am doing non medicated transfers so will still ovulate naturally next month and FET is usually 5DPO (compared to medicated where you don't ovulate)

I should also say I have asked clinic about it and they said it's the first time anyone had ever asked that question (?) but didn't seem to have an opinion either way whether it was a good or bad idea?

Hmm interesting. We’re due a fet around 2nd July. Hasn’t stopped us trying naturally. Part of me thinks we’ve been at it like rabbits for 3 years and nothing. MFI so chances are getting pregnant are slim so just crack on and enjoy.

The reason why they ask you not to ttc is because you may need to get an embryo transfer before you realise you’re pregnant. The ET may not only cause a pregnancy to miscarry but you being pregnant may cause the ET to fail too.

Thanks @Teddybear45 - if embryo transfer is 5dpo then any natural conceived embryo probably won't have implanted by that stage either? Everything I've read talks about having sex just before FET can increase chances as gets blood flowing to the area but not about when you ovulate as part of the cycle? I guess because most people do medicated transfers so it's not an issue

I did a medicated FET because they tend to be more successful for women with PCOS but yes if you were doing that then exposing the cervix to regularly before a FET may help the FET.

But if there’s any chance of you getting pregnant naturally I wouldn’t take the risk. FETs tend to be more successful than fresh transfers and so I wouldn’t want to risk anything potentially going wrong.

Also with natural ovulation you don’t have any guarantee of when ovulation occurs as the strips and temping only tell you when you are likely to ovulate not when you actually do. I know many a woman (myself included) who has ovulated a week before the temping / strips suggested it was even possible — in that situation you may well have an implanted embryo that isn’t producing enough hcg yet to be detected.
