Hi. We’ve been ttc for 18 months. All tests have come back normal. Seeing doctor James robins. He wants us to ttc naturally for another 6 months as it’s unexplained. Then it’s clomid for 6 months then ivf waiting list. Is anyone else under dr robins care and does anyone know current ivf wait list in Glasgow area at the moment? Been told 2 years which is just heartbreaking. Thanks x

Hi, I'm from the Glasgow area. Is that a dr from the assisted conception unit at the royal? We are still at the testing stage although they now know it's male factor. We have a appointment booked for July to get a plan but was told we would likely need icsi. No idea of the waiting times but I am going to ask at my next appointment in July x

Hi there, from referral to treatment start was 13 months for me, but it depends if you need to be referred for any tests first or if you go straight to treatment. I was referred to ACS at GRI in April 18, had an initial appointment within 6 weeks then was referred for hycosy (already had SA and bloods done privately), hycosy was in August then went on the waiting list for IVF/ICSI and started treatment in May. I think they originally told me the waiting list is 6-9 months long. Hope that helps.

Hi twistofate. So did you just start ivf this month? We’ve had all the testing done but got told that once put on waiting list it’s about 2 years which is soul destroying.x

@OJ19 We're in the unexplained category too, I think the eligibility criteria for treatment is 2 years ttc for unexplained so they'd want you to keep trying for another 6 months anyway but can't believe the waiting time has doubled since we were referred. Confused

They called us in Feb to fill in all the paperwork for funding and eligibility, then we were supposed to start in April but it was already fully booked by the time we were approved so I had to wait for my next period. I'm in the dreaded 2WW now.

Sorry for double posting, but just wondering why they've recommended 6 months on clomid?

There was an article on the news a few weeks ago that Glasgow only had one patient wait over 6 months for IVF in the past 1 or 2 years (I forget exactly). We are currently under the ACS with "unexplained" infertility, but the ivf referral can't go forward until 2 years ttc (as they have in their records) which sadly takes me to 3 months before my 40th. If I'm 40 when we reach top of the list the eligibility changes to 1 cycle. So I'm really hoping it's a quick waiting list.

Hi All,

Just looking for some advice. We were referred to the ACS at the GRI back in July after around 18 months unsuccessfully trying to conceive. All test came back as unexplained infertility. I was then told I would need to wait until Feburuary (2 years trying) before our next appointment. That appointment is now next week. I'm not sure what this appointment is for - Is it the case that I will only be added to the waiting list now as it's been 2 years? Or have I been on the waiting list since July and I'm about to start treatment? They didnt really explaine what would happen at this appointment. If anyone has any ideas that would be great.

I would imagine that you will be added to the waiting list at this appointment.

Thanks Mrsmch123. I think I'll just need to wait and see what happens but I was secretly hoping that they had added me to the list back in July. Just need to be more patient I think.

The waiting is the worst!Does your letter say ART appointment?

@Rokaki1986 that’ll be your appointment to be added to the waiting list, then it takes up to 6 months for you to reach the top of that. I hated all the waiting!

Hi @kikisparks yeah you're correct! We went and basically just another weight check. Then that's us officially added to the waiting list. The doctor said 6months approx for the waiting list. So more patience :) glad it's not 12 months though which I had read in some places.

We were 6 months for the NHS waiting list at the royal! We ended up going private for different reasons but the royal were pretty speedy!

Glasgow has one of the shortest wait times so you're in a good position.
I attended the clinic in September for the first time. We have 6 months on letrozole initially but nothing is happening so far. I am ovulating with it so that's good at least!
Back in March to discuss IVF.

We will be 14 months from referral to starting ivf. While it is slow at least we have the nhs to help us🥳

Hi all. Just wondering how everyone is getting on?

I’m sad that this now marks a year since I was told I would be on the waiting list and I still don’t know when I’ll be getting my first cycle, feeling hard done by and like I should have had ivf by now (3.5 years ttc) fed up by the whole thing. Whilst also realising there are people in much worse positions out there and trying not to feel so sorry for myself. How are you @unknownscot?
