HSG test? Terrified :(

I’m due to have a hsg test and I’m terrified!
I’m scared it will be painful or I’ll feel sick and faint. I feel faint just from going for a smear, so far all my tests and scans have came back normal and I have been pregnant before ( very young & termination) so is it likely my tubes will be blocked? Will it be painful? Just want other ladies experienced with it please x

I had one in December and it was fine for me. All I can describe it was like a ‘full’ feeling. Like when you’re bursting for a wee. I also felt totally normal afterwards.

Everybody is different but all I felt was mild discomfort for about two minutes. Try not to worry too much because I’m sure the anticipation is worse than the actual procedure itself

I had one last year and it was fine. It stung a bit as they put the apparatus in, then like period cramps as the dye went through.
I have anxiety anyway, so I felt sick with nerves before mine but when I told the nurses they couldn’t have been lovelier and really kept an eye on me.
It’s over so quickly, the waiting is the worst part!

I had this a whole ago, it was totally fine in terms of pain (I went on my lunch break) but the worst for me was they couldn't get the dye down one of the tubes so had to keep re trying with me in all kinds of positions. Well not all kinds but a fair bit of tilting my pelvis. The nurses were lovely, one of them held my hand (I was more afraid of the height of the bed, it felt very high and narrow).
It didn't hurt. For balance I know some people do find it painful but most don't and it could be useful in diagnosing if you do have an issue. There are also some people who get pregnant soon after as having the tubes flushed like that might remove a blockage. I'm not one of them but I've heard they exist!
Good luck.

Mine was uncomfortable I’m not going to lie. However I have a retroverted uterus and a hidden cervix 🙄 so getting the actual catheter up there for the dye was some what of a challenge. Once they got that sorted it was fine from there. Ther nursing team were fantastic and really looked after me. I did feel sick and feint but I told them and they sorted it out and kept me cool and it was fine. They were lovely after too.

Take some larger pants with a decent panty liner for afterwards. The most awkward but was having to walk from the bed in the room I had it done to the toilet holding a pad between my legs because the dye comes back out! Again nurses were great and incredibly helpful.

After I just felt a bit sore but nothing some paracetamol and hot water bottle wouldn’t sort out.

Good luck
