Ubiquinol

It is getting close to us starting our first cycle, and starting to think what if it doesn’t work and is there anything else I can do to increase my chances. Am 41 but been told my AMH is at the high end of good range and that they would have expected it to be much lower for my age. Have come across ubiquinol and wondered what other people’s experiences are. Currently taking pregnacare preconception and did ask the nurse at our consent and screening appt if there was anything else I could take and she said not. We have one shot on the nhs so want to do everything I can but also worried not to take anything that hasn’t been recommended. Starting to feel very confused Confused.

If I remember rightly, ubiquinol is one of those things that you'd need to be taking for three months or so before it could potentially have an impact on egg quality. So, if your cycle is very soon, it's unlikely to make any difference.

Good luck with your treatment!

Thankyou @perispan it has never been recommended so think I am starting to overthink things as our treatment gets closer.

I've been taking coq10 200mg and Proceive Max supplements (for women over 35) after my first cycle found whilst my AMH was ok my egg quality was poor - won't know if it's made a difference until we start our next cycle in a few months though x

Hi I recommend reading "it starts with an egg" there is a list of supplements in the back per age range. I took cq10 it's a purer form of ubiquinol and higher dose for my age - now 40. I was taking this when I got a natural bfp at38. Good luck.

You may even consider and ask your doctor about a ubiquinol or CoQ10 that is water and fat-soluble for better absorption. Yes, much of the research studied use for about 2 to 3 months to see results, but it is hard to know if taking it a shorter period of time is effective.

I did ask at our last appt if there was anythin we cud be taking (currently taking pregnarcare his & hers)?and they said no. Think getting nervous that done everything as treatment gets closer. Should be starting anytime from the 11/4 depending on AF.

I took 400mg Ubiquinol for 4 months before my cycle, I was 37 when I started my cycle and we managed 5 all grade A quality in first round and then 19 all mature grade A in second. Don't know if it was the Ubiquinol or the NAC or whether it was just naturally like that but I like to think a bit of everything

I'm 40, TTC #1 for 2.5yrs now and no hint of a BFP. Currently in FW and due to start IVF (self-funded as not eligible for NHS treatment) on about 19th April, if AF shows her face!

After doing quite a bit of research (I have a medical background and always interested to have as much info as possible!), I started taking Ubiquinol 3-4 months ago. Initially 200mg daily dose, now reduced to 100mg (as it is so expensive!!). Evidence is mixed but it MIGHT help with egg quality so after TTC unsuccessfully for >2yrs without luck I have got pretty desperate and figured it was worth a go. I've read it is best to stop it one you find out you are pregnant as there is a possible link with increased pre-eclampsia risk later on.

I'm also taking a prenatal multivit (Pregnavie), and a combined omega-3/vitamin D supplement (Opti3). Just today I have ordered some myo-inositol supplements (Inofolic) - there is some evidence it might help egg and embryo quality in IVF, though ideally should be used for 3 months in advance. It is most know for use in women with PCOS though. I have PCO but not PCOS. I can find no evidence of harm from myo-inositol in the literature either before or during pregnancy so again I figured I'd give it a try, though like the Ubiquinol it is pretty expensive!!

@2019isouryear I asked my fertility clinic about the Ubinquinol and they said this is fine to use during IVF. Wishing you all the best luck!

@FlipKat sounds like there won’t be too much time between our treatment dates. I have seen you on another thread, good luck x

@2019isouryear Hello from the other thread! Yes, think our treatment dates do sound similar. Good luck to you too!

@mommybear1 That looks good - it is the same dose but half the price of the myo-inositol I bought! It seems I really should have shopped around more!
