Hi all,

Without going into all the intricate details of everything that’s gone off over the last few years, I struggled with infertility for 3.5 years and surprisingly fell pregnant for the first time last August, I then had to say goodbye our son in the October due to major chromosome abnormalities and fluid on body. I am almost 28.

My doctor and NHS haven’t been helpful at all and have been quite awful to us during the most horrific time of our lives. Again, long story.

A close-ish relativen of mine is a highly regarded fertility specialist (abroad) and in PGD/chromosome issues. I am seeing them over the next few weeks for a gathering. Should I ask for their advice on what’s happened? Or would that be a stupid thing to do? Sorry for a daft question - just emotionally screwed up.

Thanks

I'm so sorry, how very tough for you.

Could you possibly contact them in advance of the gathering to ask their advice/arrange a time to chat with them? Because I think seeking their advice in general is a great idea and why not, but I'd suggest you avoid doing it at the event itself - partly because they may not be in work mode at that time, and partly because it could be upsetting for you.

Take care, and look after yourself.

How awful for you. If they know it was a chromosome issue there's absolutely no harm in seeking the friend's advice. I would in your shoes. I'm just in the process of PGD myself so do have some knowledge of it.
