Hi all,

Am about to start my Clomid journey and reading through the 2018 Clomid thread this is what I'm looking for. It's extremely difficult to talk about the issues with people who don't actually understand them so if anyone wants to join in the more the merrier!

I'm 30
TTC #1
Cycle #?? Been trying for 5 years
Have mild Prolactinoma
Taking daily 1mg Bromocriptine for tumour
Just been given 3 months of Clomid
Am also slightly overweight but have never ovulated.

Hello

This is my first cycle of clomid while we wait for ivf in May. I've had two chemical pregnancies in the last 3 months and I have long cycles, 35 days. I'm hoping Clomid would help improve my egg quality.

Age: 26
TTC: 21 months

Hi fulanigirl

Thank you so much for your reply! Fingers crossed for you. I've got 3 months of Clomid and in that time I have roughly 2 stone to lose so my BMI will be way under 30 at that point and then it will go straight to IVF for us as well.

How are you finding the clomid or are you yet to take it at the moment? Luckily the bromocriptine I take for my prolactinoma has made my periods bang on every 28/29 days so I'm like clockwork at the moment. Thank you for joining me on this journey!

Hi Ladies

I took my first ever Clomid tablet last night and would really like some people to talk to whilst on this journey. I'm incredibly fortunate to have a two and half year old daughter already and I know there are people who aren't so fortunate but I desperately want to give her a sibling. We've be ttc for 16 months now (it took 18 months and a mmc before conceiving my daughter) and I'm really starting to lose hope.

I'm 35
TTC #2 for 16 months
Have endometriosis and PCOS
Had a laparoscopy (cysts and lesions removed) in Jan 2019
Just started taking Clomid
Also taking Inofolic under advisement from my consultant

Hi Marmite83

Welcome!

What mg clomid have you been prescribed and how long for? I'm due on this weekend so am excited to take my first lot and can't wait for it to arrive... sounds so strange! How are you feeling about it all? Will IVF be on the cards for you if Clomid doesn't work?

Hi all,
I have just started a new thread for Clomid (NHS and private). I have been waiting for treatment with NHS since July 18. I have low progesteron and irregular cycle. HyCoSy was ok in Dec so I was given Provera and Clomid. This is my forst cycle with Clomid and I have just returned from the scan. It is not working, follicules are small and no sign of any ovultion. Have to do anothe scan on Friday. I am so dissapointed, frustrated and angry( and crying. It is like a dead-end if even Clomid is not working. NHS will do 6 cycles of Clomid and then IVF, but due to irregular cycle it will take a year just for Clomid. I really dont know what to do.

@Bear88

I have 4kg to lose for ivf. My initial appointment has been booked for the end of April so I'm doing all I can to get my weight down. I'm desperately hoping Clomid works so I won't have to do ivf. I am so grateful for the option and the opportunity but I am sure people can understand why I'd also want to avoid it if possible.

I have a doctors appointment tomorrow and I plan to ask them for progesterone pessaries. I have had two chemical pregnancies and I'm just scared of anymore. I've done a lot of research and apparently it can help or they can at least check.

@Bear88 Also I took my Clomid at night just in case I get any side effects. The only thing I noticed is I get very hot at night that I have to remove a layer of clothing.

@Eleonore15 the only form of monitoring I am receiving is a 21 day progesterone test. I also have an irregular cycle.

Hi Ladies, I’m a newbie and just joining this thread. I’m 38 and TTC for nearly a year now. I’m not ovulating regularly but all other tests including HSG and Hinny’s SA are normal. Been started on clomid and sitting in the TWW after my first cycle this month. Follicular tracking scan showed a good response and getting progesterone levels checked today. I know it’s all looking positive but I can’t help but feel deflated. Stupidly took a FRER yesterday which was BFN, don’t know why I did it as it’s way too early. Giving myself such a hard time over everything and OH doesn’t appear to understand and is of not much support unfortunately hence joining this group. I have no symptoms what so ever of pregnancy, plus didn’t symptoms with the clomid although was only on 50mg and took it at night. I genuinely think my body is resistant to everything! Thinking of taking a break from it’s all just to reset as I’m going crazy! Maybe have a cycle off. Anyone else feeling the same?!

Hi, all.
Mind if I join? I'm 40, ttc #1. My first cycle of Clomid is just ending. Also been prescribed Estradiol and progesterone. Dr suggested first two cycles unmonitored as he believed it'd work. I'm 15 DPO (or at least I'm hoping I ovulated judging by the symptoms), going to take frer tomorrow morning only to confirm I'm not pregnant and to stop taking progesterone. Internet cheapies are all bfn.

@NMC80

TTC is probably the most difficult I have ever tried in my life.

Just a bit of positivity that has raised my hopes a little is my best friend who recently told me she was pregnant. She has PCOS, can go 70 days without a period and has been TTC for 3 years. She was sent home to lose weight before she starts ivf. She didn't know she was pregnant till after 12 weeks because she is so used to not getting periods. It makes me think that eventually we will all get there! I am very happy for her.

I hope it gives everyone here some positivity as it has for me.

Joining the bandwagon if I may!

I'm 27 and we've been TTC for something like 15 cycles over nearly two years.

I have PCOS. On second cycle of clomid. Worried I'm not ovulating this cycle, last time I had a follicular scan on CD13 and had ovulated twice! Now CD15 and not having any ovulation symptoms. Meant to have progesterone tests this cycle and next.

I had a chemical pregnancy in October which was awful. I am trying to improve my diet but my BMI is just under 21 so I don't think losing weight would help me. I know they say with PCOS losing 5% body weight can make a real difference.

Thanks @Bear88

I've been put on 50mg to start, with a progesterone blood test at 21 days to assess whether it's worked. If not I'll go up to 100mg a day. I've been given 30 tablets so either 3 or 6 months supply depending o the dose I need but I'll be having a follow up appt after 3 months. I have to say I'm not enjoying the side effects so far, cramps and stabbing pains on the first day and then felt really groggy the next day and feeling quite dehydrated. Today hasn't been too bad. Its not been unmanageable, just uncomfortable and frustrating. I'm glad it's only for 5 days of each cycle!

IVF is pretty much all that's left if this doesn't work but really hoping we don't get that far as we can't really afford it and I don't want to put my body through it either.

Welcome Eleonore15, sorry to hear it's not working for you yet, hopefully the scan on Friday will be more positive.

@NMC80 try not to worry about no pregnancy symptoms, with my daughter I didn't feel pregnant at all when I did the test and genuinely thought it would be negative. The first symptom I had was sore boobs and that started a couple of days after the positive test. Sickness didn't start until I was 6 weeks. Try to stay positive (I know it's hard)

Thanks @Marmite83, I know some people don’t experience any symptoms just thought that was unusual. I’ve been an emotional wreck these last few days and finding it hard to stay positive. Just need a distraction I think although once AF arrives, I’m sure it’ll be yet again another ride on the old emotional rollercoaster! Keeping 🤞and thank you for your kind words xx

Thanks @fulanigirl. I think the frustrating thing is there isn’t anything wrong that should be hindering this process. Ok, I wasn’t ovulating regularly but the clomid has made me ovulate this month and I ovulated the month before so how is it not happening? I think if I had a diagnosis of something that would explain it I could at least rationalise what is (or isn’t) happening. Definitely one of the hardest things to go through. I’ve got such admiration for everyone going thorough this especially those doing IVF ❤️

@Bear88 how mild is your prolactinoma? I was seen but they won’t give me anything as it’s not high enough. It’s 700 now.

Hey OP!
Thanks for starting a new 2019 thread - it's time we progressed from the last one.

I'm 25.
TTC #1
3 years TTC
PCOS diagnosis
Currently on my 4th round of clomid @ 50mg.
Confirmed I do ovulate on clomid but no BFP yet..

We have max 6 cycles (2 left) on clomid and would then begin IVF proceedings in May 2019.

All the best x

@fulanigirl I am the same re my IVF thoughts! We have a couple of chances left before IVF in May and I am desperate to avoid IVF and "naturally" conceive on clomid. I have 5kg still to lose for IVF - I have lost 10kg already. Working hard but it's easy to get in the mindset that clomid will work and forget about IVF weightloss!

Also anyone new to taking clomid/ovulation tracking- my biggest recommendation if you can afford it is to purchase an Ovusense. It's a genius little computer BBT charting gadget/app that is clinically proven to tell you exactly when you ovulate.

Often the Doctors give you bloods on day 21 or scan intermittently but this really helps me pin-point my exact 24 hours of ovulation better than OPKs.

My Ovusense also tells me when I ovulate on irregular days in a long unmedicated PCOS cycle.

Hi everyone! Thanks OP for the new thread.
30 with pcos
TTC #1
Cycle 13
Cycle 2 of Clomid

I ovulated on cycle 1 and got a positive opk this cycle so currently in the tww. For the first time, I've actually lost hope this cycle. I really feel like I'm never going to get pregnant! And getting bloody fed up of people asking when I'm going to have a baby 😔

Welcome @Willowjasmine, I'm feeling much the same this month. I had a laparoscopy in Jan to remove cysts and lesions and hoped that would help, then started taking Inofolic as advised by my consultant in Feb, hoped that would help. Started my first cycle on Clomid this month and am only 7 days in to the cycle but already I feel like it's just never going to happen. Every day seems to last forever too. I hope the 2ww is quick for you and you get a lovely surprise at the end!

Hi @Marmite83! Just read your story earlier in the thread, you've been through so much. If you don't mind me asking, did you managed to conceive your DD naturally? You're right, every single day is lasting so long! I'm 5dpo today (if my opk did really indicate ovulation). The first Clomid cycle I had was 32 days (which is shorter than my usual 35-39) so not even sure when AF will be due. Usually every day I'll be reading into every symptom but this month I just feel like what's the point. Sorry to hear you had a tough time with the side effects.. I had hot flushes and was so thirsty! Was glad when the 5 days were over!

Hi @Willowjasmine

Yes, my DD was conceived naturally, I was referred for a laproscopy for my endometriosis and then the next week I found out I was pregnant Smile

The first two days after taking Clomid (I took it just before bed each day) were pretty crap but the last two haven't been too bad thankfully. I've been pretty tired but I'm pretty used to that anyway, my daughter isn't a good sleeper. Last tablet tonight and then just waiting for AF to sod off so we can start trying again. Although I have to say I'm pretty fed up of sex right now. Please tell me I'm not the only one!

It's so hard not to symptom spot isn't it! My AF has been turning up earlier than usual for the last two months which has been annoying as I'd rather it didn't turn up at all obviously but at least I haven't been sitting around waiting for days. Hope you start feeling more positive x

Oh wow really, that's amazing! I have heard so many stories like that where someone's just been referred for treatment and it happens.

You're definitely not the only one fed up of sex. I can't believe I'm saying that lol! But I am kind of relieved after ovulation or during AF when we can have a bit of a break!😂

Fingers crossed for us all!
