Transvaginal scan PCOS

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can share their experiences?
Impatiently waiting for a transvaginal scan which is scheduled for 12th Feb to confirm diagnosis of PCOS.
Has anyone else on here had this to know what comes next? I know it'll depend on the results as to what the treatment plan will be, but I'd just like to hear your stories and outcomes/if you're currently going through something similar?
Thanks in advance Smile

Hi, it was a long time again now but I've had one. The main issue for me was trying to hold in my wee as they like you to have a full bladder. They're really good and let you dash to the loo as soon as they're done.

They told me and showed me that the scan appeared to confirm PCOS. Not much happened after for me as I couldn't have fertility treatment and the medication I wanted (to deal with facial hair) they wouldn't prescribe but said I could buy it on a private prescription.

I've had one recently and had one a few years ago. For me it wasn't for pcos so I can only be so much help...
Both times the person doing it was able to tell me there and then what the saw. She pointed out on the screen what she could see. For me this is a fibroid so didn't need treatment. So not sure after the scan but they should be able to tell you there and then what they see. Good luck with it.

Hi, thanks for the reply and for sharing your experience.
Do you mind me asking why you couldn't have fertility treatment? (Don't be obliged to answer if you do not wish to).
Hope you're feeling better about it after the medication.

Thanks for your reply.
Oh really? That's good. I'm hoping they'll be able to tell me whilst I'm there too. I'm also TTC which is why they've sent me and of course, due to suspected PCOS following other tests that have suggested this.
I'm being so impatient about it all because I don't know what will come of it afterwards. A little nervous too!

I couldn't have treatment until I lost weight which is obviously harder with PCOS anyway.

They might offer you metformin which is a diabetes medication but it used to treat PCOS. If you weren't TTC they sometimes offer the pill. This actually did help me as I got my periods back and they've been regular since.

hi! I had this when TTC too - it was followed by appt with fertility clinic and then had a HSG (they inject contrast dye to check for any blockages in your tubes). It is known to "blow away some cobwebs". In fact, the Dr performing the procedure told me "now, there is nothing to stop you from trying straightaway". I conceived 2 wks later. The procedure was painless, no worse than a smeartest.

ps to add: we were en route to IVF, IUI but after all not needed. I was put on low GI diet prior and during entire pregnancy, as well extra scans during pregnancy.

Thanks so much for replies.
Glad to hear the pill helped with cycles.
Thanks for advice with meds too.

That's great news for you to not have needed any further treatment!
How long did all of this take with appt with clinic and HSG? (If I will need same)
Were they initially going to give you meds after scan and we're not needed/do they do everything first and then tell you what's needed? Just trying to work out what time of the year I'll be looking at for things to get kick started?
