Waiting times for fertility specialist NHS

I'm awaiting a transvaginal scan for confirmation of PCOS and have been told that after that (depending on results), I may be referred to a hospital/fertility specialist.
Does anyone know the waiting times for this or the process?
Appreciate anyone's comments, thanks.

It will vary a lot depending on where you are I'm afraid. The hospital I work at has a huge gynae backlog, but the hospital I chose to go to which is not much further didn't have a backlog.

I was diagnosed with PCOS in the summer (had an external ultrasound at the end of July). I've since been put on metformin, been to a fertility consultant twice and am now on clomid and having follicular scans as it's my first cycle to see how I respond. Some hospitals just give people clomid and don't monitor them at all, so those things can vary quite a lot too.

Thank you for your reply!
I live in South Wales. Not too sure what they're like here. Hopefully not too much of a backlog in that case!
When did they put you on the medication - straight after your scan appt/after a visit with a consultant?

Also hope I am like you being monitored if it's the case that I need that too!

I’m in Scotland, went to GP in the January, first gynae appointment in the March. Had a few things done since then and likely to just be going onto ivf waiting list in the next couple of months.

My GP put me on the metformin after my scan for PCOS. I asked about it and she said she was happy to support that whilst waiting for my consultant appt. My consultant was pleased I was on it and said she was going to suggest it so told my GP to keep prescribing it.

Oh that's great!! I'll keep that in mind when I go. Always worth an ask, anything is help, especially when you're playing a waiting game!
