Low sperm count genetic?

Hi ladies
Had a few posts on here and got some great advice
My oh has very low count & motility
We have been trying for years. I’ve just found out my ohs brothers ex girlfriend is pregnant 5 months after they split! Apparently they’d been trying the 5 years they were together. I’m actually shocked she’s pregnant as she always said it was her infertility ( PCOS) causing it. I’m know thinking maybe he has very low count too and it could somehow be genetic? Does anyone else have any experience or knowledge of this? We are yet to find a cause for my ohs severe mfi as we are waiting a referral appointment for the hospital for more tests x

Phlalates and plastics (environmental factors) have been blamed by the drastic reduction in average sperm counts in the last 50 years.

This does not explain all male factor infertility (medical treatment, undescended testical, varicocele etc...).

Or it could be a coincidence.

Yes it often is genetic.

Its more common to be caused by infection/injury/partial blockage/lifestyle etc, the unfortunate thing is it's common to have male factor issues these days so it's likely just a coincidence
