How many IFV cycles

I have had an appointment today and the nurse has advised IVF, we don’t get NHS funding so will have to fund all cycles ourselfs.

I’m considering the long term financial cost of how many cycles it could take, so how many has it taken you to conceive, if at all?

It took me one, but that makes me very very lucky rather than it being the norm. I also went abroad to help minimise costs.

I understand that three cycles or three transfers depending on who you talk to takes your chances to around 80%.

Mine was my 5th that was successful but I had to move to donor eggs due to issues with my egg reserve, cycle 1 and 2 were own egg and cycles 3,4 and 5 donor egg

Have you looked into Access Fertility, you can pay upfront for multiple rounds which makes it cheaper if you use them all and they have a refund program too.

We were first time lucky, but I know it varies.

We fell pregnant all 3 times but only the 3rd transfer resulted in a live birth.

I believe 3 cycles is the average amount it takes but obviously there are extremes at both ends, and for some it sadly never works.

About to consider my fifth fresh cycle.

One of the previous four resulted in a pregnancy but sadly miscarried.

All funded myself.

Considering third transfer. We were lucky though to get 12 blasts from first egg collection - if none of those twelve results in a live birth I don't think we'll try again (one miscarriage, one BFN).
