Coming off Blood Thinners - nervous

Currently 9 weeks pregnant with twins after 4 cycles of IVF. For our FET consultant put me on Inhexa (commonly known as clexane I believe). There was no specific reason for doing this other than after repeated implantation failures it was worth trying.

I’m due to stop taking the injections in 3 weeks but I feel so nervous about it. I read that so many ladies are on it practically all the way through the pregnancy. I’m so scared that if I stop things will go wrong. I know that’s silly as there’s no evidence that the blood thinners were successful but in my mind they are absolutely the reason why I’m pregnant. My clinic are adamant that it’s safe to stop.

Any advice given that I don’t actually have a clotting disorder or precious miscarriages.

Thank you x

I was on fragmin (similar - blood thinning injection) until 12 weeks. I was prescribed it to avoid ohss (I had some mild, possible symptoms after collection).

Coming off was a bit scary. The world didn't end. I had no bleeding. Foetus is fine. I'd had two early miscarriages so was thinking/ worrying maybe I had a clotting issue...

I guess because you weren't prescribed them for a specific cause it makes sense not to stay on them.

All you can really do is hope for the best... any signs of trouble and you need to get straight back on them!!!

I was on clexane too and gradually wheened off it about 14 weeks I think. I did take baby aspirin for my whole pregnancy though. I also had twins xx
