Infertility

Low egg count

A few months ago we went for fertility tests, I found out I was pregnant so I didn't take too much notice of what the results were- they said I had low egg count- 6 counted each side instead of min 10 to be considered normal. Sadly I miscarried recently and now I'm thinking about what the results mean.

Has anyone had this? I fell pregnant without any assistance just took a long time and now I'm anxious to try again but as I'll be 35 soon I don't want to wait too long. The fertility clinic were pushing ivf but I don't know if that was a sales driven thing or do they think that's my only option. The doctor made a big thing about not waiting until I'm 35 as my chances of conceiving dramatically fall

So they didn't do any bloods, only an Antral follicle count??

Sorry yes they did bloods, FSH 9 AMH 7.1. I don't really know what they mean

Have a read of this, suggests those tests may not be hugely helpful anyway:

Hopefully as you did become pregnant it will happen again. We are undergoing fertility tests at the moment so I know a little about the misery of being a long term TTCer. Sorry about your loss Thanks

You fsh and amh indicate a normal picture, but suggest you shouldn't hang about, which you aren't. I think an afc of 12 is very very normal too!!!

Not sure I would trust them with pushing ivf... but how long have you been ttc?? If approached by two years, I would probably proceed with ivf in your case...

My best advice - learn what those results mean!!! Ultimately, doctors don't care if you conceive or not. It's far more important to you!! So take charge and know what the steps are and what you can be doing to improve your odds!!!! Two recommended reads: taking charge of your fertility and 'it starts with the egg.' Take charge of your body - it's the only one you get!!!

My FSH was low apparently for my age had the test done at 30 and it came back at 11 apparently what a 40 year old would show!! But I went on to get pregnant (with clomid) so I dunno how these tests actually work/show?!? I know a few others that the same thing happened had low results and then got pregnant

Also saw on ultrasound I had very similar to you 6 eggs on one side and on on other n average is 10!! It's all confusing I don't even think the doctors know

A total of 12 sounds pretty good to me! I remember at my first count I had 5 in total and the nurse said she'd expect to see 12-15 as a normal count. I was devastated! I would definitely give yourself some stress-free time to try naturally again before going for more tests.

Thanks IsabellaMoltisantixx & PhoebeMouse, I'll try relax and see if it happens for us over the next 6 months and look again then
