Prednisolone, Clexane and Aspirin for 2nd cycle after a miscarriage?

Hi all, my first IVF cycle ended in a miscarriage at 9 weeks. I have one good frozen embryo left and one wonky one. Had appointment with my consultant today about next cycle and he offered me prednisolone, clexane and aspirin as additional meds to reduce the chance of miscarrying again if I get pregnant. Part of me thinks it's jumping the gun to add two more lots of pills and a lot of jabs to my already full list, when most likely (he said) it was a one-off genetic abnormality with the embryo.

BUT the thought of going through another miscarriage with such high stakes in IVF is just horrendous. I feel like I would pay and do anything to avoid it... which in turn makes me feel like I am vulnerable to upselling! My consultant was really good at being neutral, said the research is not yet there to support it. Have others got experience of making this type of decision? I'd love to hear your views. Thanks!

I had all of the drugs you mentioned for my IVF (and more ....). So I understand how it can feel as if you are on too many meds. My rationale was I may as well throw everything at it, because of my age I would only get one or perhaps two tries at this.

If you look at fertility friends website there will be a lot of info on there.

I got lucky first round. Will never know to what extent the drugs helped or not though. My gut thinks they did, but I could just be rationalising it.

Thanks @Calmingvibrations - I keep coming back to wanting to eliminate as many 'what if's as possible. Even though I might be rattling from all the drugs! I feel time ticking on and am so anxious to make this next cycle work. I will check out fertility friends.

Good luck!
IVF feels like a bit of a black box - never sure of what exactly goes on or why sometimes it works for some people and not for others.
On the face of it, mine had a very low probability of working - so many issues health wise, low AMH and my first cycle was cancelled due to a bad scan showing there’d be hardly any eggs. Yet it worked. Other people I know were in much better position and it should have worked but didn’t.
I’d follow the advice of your consultant - but I’m biased as it worked for me !

I had pred, clex and aspirin last cycle. One miscarriage and one BFN out of 5 embryos put back.

Good luck thanks

Hi I am too considering these 3 medications after 2 failed cycles. I have no health issues, just been labelled with unexplained infertility. The doctors too are suprised why the two attempts haven taken and are putting it down to possible bad selection of embryos despite them being very good grades. I have 3 of 5 left. They have said I can put back two if I'd like to, Given that it's my last free nhs cycle. which suprised me given my age..I'm only 30 but been trying for 3 + years. Everyone says im still young, not to worry but it's inevitable. And now with two failed ivf cycles I worry more. I have gone off track to your thread (first time on a blog)
But back to the meds I wasn't advised by the doctors to take these but followed a YouTube blogger who had two failed attempts and then was successful on the 3rd once starting these drugs which made me consider them. I can't see myself going through BFN for the 3rd 4th and 5th go without trying something else.... And I think I will put back two and hope for the best.

It's scary to put our bodies through so many drugs we can only hope that the outcome is worth the risks. I don't know if my reply is any comfort but know your not alone x
