Hydrosalpinx - anyone had one, or had a tube removed?

After what seems like forever, I have a pre op appointment for surgery to have the fallopian tube removed. Anyone had this done? Any advice for the surgery?

I've had this done and if you've had a lap and dye before it's just the same. I took a week off work and then took it easy for a week when I went back to work and I was fine.

I had to have both tubes removed for this reason. They initially planned to just remove one but when they did the lap they found they needed to remove both. I did consent to them removing both if needed but I did cry when I woke up and they told me, as that takes away any chance of ever becoming pregnant aside from via IVF

My surgery was 3.5 weeks ago and I’m still struggling to recover fully.

Also to say that I was experiencing pain beforehand so the surgery was the right thing to do (they also look at clipping them rather than removing but that wouldn’t have fixed the pain). Do you have pain?

I had a tube removed as it had ruptured due to an ectopic. I lt took about 9 days for the pain to ease and I needed 2 weeks off work. I found I couldn’t wear jeans for the first week as the waistband would sit right on my incisions so would wear something elastic area and let it sit just below or above the incisions. Yes to the pain. Sometimes manageable sometimes more severe.

They'll be opening up a previous surgery scar, which is actually what caused this problem in the first place. The recovery was long, and I don't want to be stuck in hospital for ages

I had one removed due to ectopic pregnancy. Mine was keyhole. Are they planning keyhole or open surgery?
I went in (as an emergancy) around 10 at night, and was discharged the following morning.
I returned to work at the end of my 2 week sick note. In hindsight, I should have taken a further week off.
Only pain killers were paracetamol and ibuprofen.

Open. Scans are showing only one tube with damage, but the consultant said that the previous surgery was such a disaster he'd be surprised if the other one was healthy and he wants to get a look at it.

If it’s an open surgery (rather than keyhole) you might expect a couple of nights in hospital. Best advice for the recovery is to make sure you get decent pain relief (I had a week of dihydrocodiene) and get up on your feet as soon as you can. Try and do a little more each day but don’t overdo it (I fear I did, and have been set back a little). Your external scars will heal more quickly than internally so you may need a month before you feel back to normal.

Aside from the first few days, the pain I’ve had post surgery has not been as bad as the niggling, tight, persistent discomfort I had from my useless tubes.
