Hey,

I've had my appointment through finally to start my first round of IVF. Our consultation is September and hoping if we start on CD21 (no idea if we will, just what I'm presuming from research) then we will be good to start just after the middle of the month. Anyone else the tentatively waiting for a September start?

Yes, we have our review for IVF7 in just under 2 weeks and will be booking in for FET1, probably starting with September af around the 20th?

Do you know what type of protocol you'll be on?

I really need to start being healthy again after having a week of crisps, buttery bread, wine, chocolate....ooops lol!

Good luck!

Totally get you on the healthy bit! I'd lost 3 stone but then messed about the last month with it being summer and then got my letter through Blush so I'm trying to be good again too!

I'm presuming I'll be long protocol as we have male factor. I have a last doctors appointment this Monday to check my FSH and TSH and then have another 5 weeks until we start. We have our group meeting the 10th and then consultation on the 11th so should be really close timing to you. I'm presuming your protocol is much shorter though with being frozen? How are you feeling?

I'll be starting again on IVF4 in September. Need to get myself into the right mindset and recapture that naive hopeful excitement I had on cycle one!
I'm hoping a holiday in August will help with a major reset.
Good luck everyone x

Sorry you're both on so many goes. I'm definitely struggling with the optimism already. I haven't really told anyone that I'm starting, just a few family that are abroad as I don't really want the stress of them constantly asking but then I feel like I may need the support.... any advice guys?

Hi ladies! Well... got my appointment with nurse in August to go through the injections etc n will be starting around beginning of September on antagonist short protocol, I think as start injecting on cd3. This is our first IVF cycle after about 5 years of ttc, other half has sperm mobility, morphology issues. Feel like we’ve waited a lifetime for this n now it’s within touching distance, I’m bricking it! Feel a bit overwhelmed by it all tbh n other half is annoyingly optimistic about it all n I feel like a Debbie downer, trying to keep myself busy n not google n eat my life away! 🤦🏻‍♀️

I have my appointment on the 11th and then I'm presuming if we are long protocol we can start on the 20th so we should all be quite close. My husband has issues with count and we've been trying 2 years. I'm CD1 today and despite knowing the IVF is starting soon it hit me harder than it has in month weirdly... on one hand I want it to start now and on the other hand I'm too scared. Watched One More Shot 3 times this week and can't stay away from One Born Every Minute etc.

Not sure where I fit in, we will be cycling IVF2 end of September but have decided to freeze all and return in the next natural cycle for FET

Hi WineWinner, I’m exactly the same! Wanted to start n now it’s happening I feel like postponing it all but can’t as I’m 36 now n times getting on. It’s just a lot to take in isn’t it? My last appointment was very brief, then we saw another consultant on Wednesday n he was like; right we’ll get you booked in with the nurse to show you how to do the injections n some bloods n you can’t start on your next period....Then told me about the trials they were doing, n if I’d be interested n what protocol I’d be on. I came out head spinning n a nervous wreck n my OH like he won the lottery! Ive know I’ve just gotta man up n get on with it suppose 😬

Welcome ANiSL at this stage I don’t think anyone knows where they fit in, I’m just pottering along, it’s just nice to have somewhere to put down your thoughts. Interesting your doing what sounds like the trial my consultant was telling me about n the other trial was Endo scratch need to do some research I think..

Thanks Kelou75. Yes my clinic recommended it in our last cycle, sadly no embies got to day 5. We had 2 grade a 8 cell split on day 3. They said all eggs retrieved were grade a quality too albeit not as many as they hoped. My clinic advised that the reason theu recommend the freeze option is because those hormones wreck the natural environment of the uterus so allow time for conditions to go back to normal before implanting.
So I guess I am part Sept/Oct cycle and then Nov/Dec cycle.
Its strange how we are programmed by the NHS to think 35 is old, my clinic saif I could afford to wait as I was still young, I am 37.

ANiSL sorry your previous cycle was unsuccessful, it’s such a rollercoaster of emotions isn’t it? I have a friend who went through exactly the same a few months ago, i think the fact they give you a grade makes it in a way so much tougher when they don’t reach day 5.
That makes total sense to me re waiting after all stimulation from the cycle, as I’m still struggling to get my head round having to take all the hormones ( not that I’m some organic holistic person mind) guess it’s cos I’ve not been on the pill for soo long n I remember the hormones use to make me a lil bit crazy!
Yes totally agree with you with the NHS, I feel like they view me n my partner as practically geriatric! That being said, I know we are super lucky to be in an area that provides some nhs funding.
For us, most people just assume we don’t want children, so I guess to most people we are viewed as past it too (my parents n in laws included!) Oh well bugger em! That’s one of the reasons why I’ve been resistant to tell our friends n family about our journey, shared only with a select few.
Well before I whip myself into a frenzy thinking about all possible outcomes, I’ve downloaded the ivf mindfulness app....again I’m not really down with the mindfulness but at this point I’ll give pretty much anything a whirl! Wishing you lots of luck on your next cycle x

Kelou75 u are lucky to be in a good CCG area, our cut off is referral by 34 for female partner.
I was ok during the last cycle, I was disappointed that they didnt make it but I chalked it up to fate and what will be will be. DH took it harder because he read that if the eggs are good by day 3 then the sperm takes over the development. Luckily my clinic explained that one away.
I know some people prefer to implant asap but I did read about the effects of all the meds on the uterine cavity.

Hi Ladies, sorry for late reply, we were having our last weekend of letting our hair done before we get back to being serious about getting healthy today. I've just been for some blood tests this morning and the 5 week count down is on. I'm not very 'mindful' either but I think that some mindfulness sounds great and think I'll go looking for an app too.
AniSL sorry to hear about your last round but good that you know what to expect now and are being positive! Will they change anything this time do you know?
My clinic has the eFreeze trial at the moment too and I'm very torn between wanting to get it done ASAP or giving myself the break.

Hi Winewinner all this talk about going healthy to prepare for cycles is just nuts, tbh I dont thibk fertility experts know fertility at all. I have seen girls who eat nothing but drink alcohol and smoke crack get pregnant at the drop of a hat, I recently met an alcoholic 43 year old who had been solidly drinking for 14 years who had 7 children and was pregnant with her 8th - WTF. And wr have to get healthy and not eat this or that and take supplements and blah blah blah.
My clinic has decided to increase my stims just slightly, they really did a gentle cycle Last time with only 150 of Gonal a day and then Cetrotride after day 3 on Gonal. They are increasing Gonal this time round but dont want me to end up in what they call a typical UK cycle of high dosage hormones, theu say its dangerous for us and also has implications for baby too.

AniSL yeh I totally know what you mean! I'm sat moaning at my hubby about not drinking beers and trying to cut down my caffeine etc when half the people I know have gotten pregnant from a drunken night out! I'm just trying to be health as I've lost weight and my worry is that if I put on now with stress eating and then put on with the drugs, I'd have to lose weight again to start another round if I needed and I don't want any delay.

Welcome peanut Smile I'm totally new to this too and my appointment is the week after yours. Do you know anything to expect yet? Protocol etc? I know I'm doing ICSI and am presuming long protocol but waiting to hear back results from AMH and FSH this week Confused

They haven't actually said yet but I'm presuming long given that I ovulate and have regular 27-28 day cycles.

Hi @winewinner. I don’t know about protocol yet. I’ve had all my tests done. Waiting to find out more about her finer details at our next appointment. I do have a 5 year old son already. I’m 38 years old. We’ve been trying for baby no. 2 for over 18 months. We plan to do ICSI. I’m relatively calm about it all at the moment. I’m trying not to be emotional either way. I’m pleased we’re doing this but understand there are no guarentees. Whether I’ll keep this level of calm once we start is another matter. I hope so 🤞

Good luck everyone xxx

Hi all, so I had my antral follicle count today and I expected that the sonographer was going to tell me how many she counted but instead she said everything fine not to worry.has someone experienced this?

Report
Botanica · 09/08/2018 18:34

@Guio I always ask for every detail and write it down. Likewise my own copies of every blood test result, follicle stimulation chart etc...

It's important to have your own records and especially useful when you're several cycles or years down the line to be able to see where you were previously at certain points in time.

I'd ring them up and ask them what the result was.
