Clomid - Lack of Side Effects

I am about to take my day 4 dose of 50mg Clomid, having been taking it at 9pm as had read it was best to take it of an evening to minimise noticing side effects.

This is great, but I have had a the grand total of...1 side effect, and even that wasn't as bad last night. I inevitably don't go to sleep until nearer midnight, so I figured I would notice something, but the only thing I've noticed has been hot flushes.

Now, I know this is actually a positive thing, and I would imagine if I were having lots of negative side effects I would probably be berating them (although perfectly happy to go through them if it did its job), but I'm now concerned that the lack of side effects means it's not actually doing anything?

I'm well aware that this could be totally way off and I'm just being paranoid, but I guess I just really want this to work and make me ovulate. I figured side effects would show it was doing something to my body, but having only hot flushes (which made me pretty damn hot, but they passed and I could sleep), I'm now not certain.

Am I overthinking all of this? Could I just be really lucky and not have the nausea/headaches etc. that I was expecting?

I only had hot flushes. I was shown to ovulate with scans and bloods.

@physicskate

Thanks for letting me know that - I already feel a little better about it! Smile

Rock is this your first cycle of Clomid? Will you receive any monitoring? I didn't but I pushed and pushed and got a boos test in the end to measure progesterone level.
As physicskate says there is monitoring that can (and in my opinion should) be done so they can decide whether or not to increase your dose. Good luck with it.

I never had any side effects and have had 2 children thanks to clomid. I was monitored the first time with bloods and scans to show that I was producing follicles, and not too many, and then ovulating. They didn’t offer monitoring the second time, different hospital, and I assumed that’s because they knew already how I responded to clomid. If you have no success this first month ( it took me three each time) then I’d push for monitoring the second.

Just found out I'm pg with cycle 2 of clomid. Only side effect was hot flushes. Just means your body is coping well xx

I remember being really annoyed at not having any side effects when I was on IVF stims. I was like "I'm shooting myself up with a couple of hundred quid's worth of drugs a day, the least I can expect is to feel something! It might as well be water!"

Thanks all, I feel better about the lack of side effects now and fingers crossed it’s still doing what it should be.

I have a 21-day blood test, but no scans.

@Persipan I totally get that and would probably feel the same way!
