Clomid for unexplained infertility

Has anyone had any success with Clomid when they've had unexplained infertility?
My fertility dr has just told me he wants to try 3 months of Clomid before we take the ivf route.
All my tests have come back fine so no reason why I haven't conceived in the last year been trying for 2 years and had 2 miscarriages.

I wouldn't call you infertile as you've been pregnant twice in those 2 years so I'm not sure why the need for Clomid unless your blood tests show something??
True infertility is the inability to conceive, which you've managed twice.
If you search on here there's loads of Clomid success stories. It did nothing for me.

I have unexplained infertility however I’ve been ttc for 19 months with no pregnancies at all. My fertility dr said he wouldn’t recommend clomid if you already ovulate as it can lead to hyper ovulation. If you are able to get pregnant but miscarry then I would say your issue isn’t ovulation but either a problem with implantation or there could be an issue with chromosomal abnormalities neither of which would be helped using clomid. But then I’m not a medical professional

My dr said it's unexplained infertility as my last miscarriage was 18 months ago and we've been trying since with no success.
To be honest I'm just willing to try anything offered to me, they are going to monitor me so I'm not too worried and it's just for me that little step closer to getting a little bundle of joy...hopefully x

My dr also said Clomid could help produce better quality eggs than I'm producing now or more than one to give me more of a chance.
I don't mean to offend anyone by saying unexplained infertility that's just what my fertility specialist has told me, I wish everyone the best of luck and hope we all get our blessing and dreams realised x

Hi Ange

My GP initially gave me Clomid but I decided not take them, have they done a 21 day test to check whether u are ovulating?

Hi aniSL

Why did you decide not to if you don't mind me asking? I had a day21 test done almost a year ago and it came back fine so I believe I am ovulating. My fs said it will hopefully boost my eggs to a better quality and increase my chance if I ovulate more than one egg x

I feel like if you're ovulating and have a normal length cycle clomid is unlikely to do anything for you - I'm not sure if the 'better quality egg' theory is true, though. It may make you produce more than one egg - would you be OK with a higher risk of a multiple pregnancy?

I do feel like it's a clutching at straws exercise but willing to try while I'm waiting to get referred for ivf.
I would be fine with any outcome I'm not concerned about twins.....though may feel differently if it actually happened lol

I had unexplained secondary infertility after having dd. Tried for 2 1/2 years before we got ds.
I had 10 months of clomid & it worked for me eventually!
Definitely worth a try before ivf
Good luck 💐💐💐

I stopped ovulating due to PCOS. Clomid + metformin got me pregnant right away. Good luck!

Hi Ange

I was too concerned about the damage Clomid can do to not only me but any potential offspring. I decided Ubiquinol, DHEA and a fertility cleanse was better than Clomid

I took 6 cycles of clomid. I have pco (probably not pcos) and was not ovulating regularly (cycles 28-39 days). Figured I'd give clomid a go. It didn't work and grew a fibroid that I am now worried could be stealing my blood supply... so please be aware that clomid is not without potential side effects and shouldn't really be taken 'to see what could happen'.
