Egg retrieval this month anyone

Hello ladies,

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for the past 3 years, I am 28 years old. We are undergoing our first fresh round of IVF with ICSI. I started Suprecur injections last month and Menopur injections a couple nights ago and my egg retrieval if all goes well is in a couple weeks. I was just wondering if there is someone at the same stage as me?

Hi there,

Yes I’m pretty close to your situation. Had final menopur injection last night and trigger shot tonight at 7pm. In on Monday for collection. This is my first attempt also. Hope you’re doing well and coping with injections!

Hi windy 😃 How did your trigger shot go? Is it any different to the other injections and are you feeling ok? How exciting that your EC is on Monday, will have everything crossed for you. Please let me know how it goes, as I have no idea what to expect?

Hello! Can I join please? First ever post on a fertility board and first ever post on mumsnet! I've also just done my trigger, and if all goes well, I'll have egg collection Monday morning. What protocol are you ladies on? Long? I had to get through 34 buserlin and 12 gonal f injections to get here. Becky, if you started menopur already, it's not long until EC for you. Hope the injections are going ok. Windy, fingers crossed it all goes well on Monday. How many follicles have you got? This is my first (and only I hope!) IVF. I'm nervous for tomorrow, but can't wait at the same time.

Trigger was fine and not much different to other injections, except it was a pen instead of the syringes I’ve been used to. Feeling ok but unfortunately had some disappointing news from clinic on Friday. They said I’ve over stimulated and they’re looking at a freeze all 😟. I will let you know what it’s like though x

Hi there!

Yes I’m on long protocol too. 21 day down reg shot then started menopur after af. Is it wrong that I’m not sure how many follicles I have?! They were making noises that there are plenty but I didn’t ask how many and sizes. I’m just going to wait and see what tomorrow brings 🤞

@windy2909 So sorry to read that you have been over stimulated! So relieved that you have ones you can freeze though. It's not over yet, just a little detour on your journey to becoming a momma. Do you know what will happen now? When's your next appointment?

@Reallyhopethisworks of course your welcome, I only started posting on fertility boards yesterday as I was reading a few and they looked really supportive. Although I have supportive friends it's different when someone knows the exact process. I am in the long protocol and egg collection at the moment is a week on Wednesday, so you will both have to let me know what it's like. I have blood tests and scans on Wednesday and Friday this week, my trigger should be a week on Monday.

If it's ok, can I ask what your fertility journey has been so far, please tell me to mind my own business if this is too personal xxxx

I had some reflexology today, have heard that this can support IVF process and stress levels. I used to go a couple years ago when I had really irregular periods and now they are regular. What other things is everyone doing to aid IVF, any tips to share 😀. Obviously I'm not drinking, smoking, trying to eat healthy, yoga and meditation every now and again. I'm also having whey protein shakes before egg retrieval which I saw a good thread on. My manager is a qualified homeopath and she has given both me and my husband stuff to take. Also supposedly and this is a funny one.... pineapple supports a nice duvet uterus if you take it day before and after egg collection. I try to think positively but I am prone to the negative thinking style so I might be trying to overcompensate lol. ❤️

Will just have to see how things go after retrieval tomorrow. Been ttc for around 2 years. Tbh, not doing anything out of the ordinary. Just trying to be as healthy as possible! Reflexology sounds good though. How have you been keeping? Injections going ok? X

@windy2909 how did egg retrieval go? Injections going ok, been a little low and headache today but not sure if that's a side affect or my general mood lol. I have a blood test Wednesday and blood test and scan Friday. I really hope it's all working. So many people have talked about bloating, but I do not have this xxxx

Hiya, it went well thanks. A little bit tender tonight but not too bad considering. I was really scared and nervous but it was absolutely fine. I woke up and didn’t feel as if anything had happened. Hope this reassures you. I had a killer headache on 4th day on menopur and then nothing. However, the last couple of days were uncomfortable as my ovaries were massive! They managed to collect 6 eggs which I am happy with. The consultant was a bit disappointed as he said he’d expected to get 9 or 10. I didn’t have bloating but I have it now! Hoping your bloods come back good and your estrogen levels aren’t quite as high as mine ended up! X

Are they still thinking of freezing them all @windy2909. How are you feeling today? I had a blood test today, and they have asked me to increase my Menopur from 3 powders to 5 powders! So I'm not sure it's working the way they were hoping. But hopefully after a couple days things will start moving. I have a scan on Friday. What are your next steps xxx

Hiya,
Don’t worry about having to up the dose, I think that is quite common. Hopefully it will be just enough to get you to where you need to be. Did you have a scan today, or just bloods?
I am still sore and have taken a few days off work to recover. Think the pain is more related to my swollen ovaries than the egg collection. Yes I’m a definite freeze all if we have anything to freeze come Saturday. They collected 6 and 3 fertilised and have been in the incubator since yesterday. Hoping and praying that we have something to freeze. Hope you get good results on Friday. Been thinking of u. Keep me posted please x

Just had my scan, my left ovary isn't working and hasn't produced any good quality eggs. My right has about 4 -6 eggs so I'm a little disappointed. But I suppose it's quality not quantity. They also found a polyp in my uterus which isn't good but they didn't explain, all they said was that if it doesn't work this time they would consider taking it out next time which is upsetting, can't understand why they can't just take it out this time. Still have my bloods to do. Xxx

Ok, so staying positive....they have the potential to collect 6 eggs and as you will know from other people’s stories it only takes one. Are they waiting for blood results to decide whether you are ready for retrieval?

becky114 · 09/03/2018 11:24

The bloods I believe are to check whether I need to increase my Menopur to 6 powders, she did mention that possibly postponing retrieval until Friday to give my eggs a bit more time, will let you know. How you feeling today xxx

I’m wondering about your doses of menopur and think they may be a bit different from mine? You mentioned powders but I was given little vials with a tablet inside that you have to add liquid to. Given my own experience, I think it’s a good thing to stim slower, as within 9 days on my dosage I was overstimulated and therefore no fresh transfer. It’s just a horrible thing though isn’t it? All the waiting and wondering.

I am expecting a call tomorrow from embryologist to find out if any of my 3 little eggs have made it to blast. I am a nervous wreck about it and have the added worry that I may not have any suitable to freeze, leading to failed first attempt.

Please let me know how you’re doing. It’s good to have someone going through it all around the same time and understand what it’s like. Take it easy and relax as much as you can x

I am relaxing as we speak. I really hope you get some blasts Hun!!!! Yep I have the vials to and my clinic is referring to those tablets as the powders. I use 5 vials to one water and that might be increased to 6, how many vials do you use? Xxx

Hey, glad you’re relaxing! Yes I’m keeping everything crossed for some good news tomorrow 🤞. I was given menopur 1200 iu. Each box had 1 vial of powder and 2 syringes of solvent for mixing. This gave me a vial containing 6 doses at 200 iu each x

Hi @windy2909 how's everything going? I had my scan today and my retrieval date has been moved to Friday. I only have one follicle on my right ovary which currently measures 14mm (it's my right that not working as well not my left as previously mentioned). My left has 4 follicles, one of which is 18mm which I'm chuffed about, the rest are around 12mm to 14mm. There's 3 that are 9mm but still growing, so I'm hoping with a couple more days stims we might be in a better place. Feeling much more positive. I just want one I can use and a couple to freeze if possible. The polyp is small and no where near they insert the catheter. Was told my uterus looks good also. Fingers crossed 🤞 how's everything going for you my lovely? Xxx

Hey, glad all’s looking good and you were able to get some more info today. I think the waiting and wondering is hellish! Glad you’re feeling more positive. So are you back again on Wednesday for next check?

I’m doing good thanks. We are on hold and not out, as we managed to get 2 embryos for freezing. Huge relief....would have been devastated if first attempt had ended just like that x

Definitely @windy2909 when are you able to start your FET? I have a scan Wednesday yes. I just hope that because I have a small number of eggs that some fertilise, because like you say it would be devastating if it just ends after everything we have been through. I think that would make me quite angry xxx

By the way they were talking, it will be about an 8 week wait....after imminent bleed from this process and I can phone them day 1 if my next cycle and get things in place for natural fet. Good luck for scan tomorrow. Hope you get good news! X
