Hello Aly82!
I am due to start IVF in late January, would love to share experiences. I have my appointment with the nurses for medication this week. Out of interest what supplements have you been taking in the run-up? I have just read 'It starts with an Egg' and have been a bit blown away by the myriad of supplements it recommends!

Me, hopefully, maybe!
I’m waiting for D1 to arrive to start taking the pill on D2 but worried Christmas is going to get in the way.
We are taking the hideously expensive Proxeed.
Are you private or NHS?

Aly82 · 04/12/2017 18:32

Hi and welcome to our small group, crayfish😊.i am nhs. I'm waiting for my d1 too but will be around middle of the month. What about you (private or nhs)? Daisy?

Hi, thanks.
I’m private and throwing everything at it, not sure if it’s the best idea but if I don’t, I feel I’m not trying hard enough.
I feel behind both of you! No medication (apart from pill) yet and no more appointments booked, I suppose it will all happen when D1 arrives and timing can be planned.

Aly82 · 04/12/2017 21:31

I think if you decided to go with ivf you are trying really hard. God and all the ladys that have it ,know how hard it is to do all the test, scans (with witnesses if you are lucky to be in an university hospitalSmile)injection and many others.

Related to medication you are not behind me they send the medication but I still have to wait for my day 1 carry on until first injection ......is just the clinic protocol.is different from one to the other

Hello Crayfish! and hello again Aly. I am NHS. Looking at my notes, it looks like I probably won't be starting medication until Feb as I have to wait for Day 21 of my period to take Progynova. What's Proxeed? I h
ave to do a bit more reading up to be honest, before I start.

Crayfishparty · 05/12/2017 13:03

Hi Daisy
Proxeed is a very overpriced supplement but it is the only thing that I have read about that might improve sperm morphology, it probably won’t! I’m not sure about keeping up with up to be honest. (We are both old though)
I’m on D1!! I’m paying to have the scratch so that will be the next thing I think.
What is the Progynova for?
It’s all so confusing or is it just me!

Aly82 · 05/12/2017 15:33

Hi. What do you mean by scratch crayfish? They didn't mention nothing like that in the meetings. Is all very confusing for me also and I have the impression if I read on other sites I get more confused and complicated.

OP posts:
Daisy1980a · 05/12/2017 16:56

I think the progynova tablets are to suppress your normal ovulation process (not that I ovulate very regularly, hence why I'm on clomid at the moment! )
It's so confusing Crayfish! A friend asked me if I was doing a long or short cycle IVF and I was like wtf? Have no idea! It looks like it will take ten weeks which seems long to me!
At my hospital I just missed out on a endometrial scratch research project - gutted as think it's meant to be great. Will you both be working while undergoing IVF?

Aly82 · 05/12/2017 17:46

It should he wrote on the form that the doctor gave you at your first appointment (long or short protocol).is that paper with a coloured chart on it.

Crayfishparty · 05/12/2017 20:52

The scratch is the endometrial scratch. Daisy that’s annoying to have missed out. From what I have read they usually try without first but I guess as I’m paying the clinic think I might as well go for it from the start, as it doesn’t add that much to the total and if it works it saves another go.

10 weeks must be long protocol surely! I’m long and it’s meant to last 7 weeks.

Crayfishparty · 05/12/2017 21:22

Yes still going to work, are you?

Daisy1980a · 06/12/2017 12:42

Yes, but will be working from home for part of the week and I am lucky that the hospital is close to my house. I have been very thankful for that this week with four appointments in a week!

Aly82 · 06/12/2017 14:32

I will be working too. I manage to changchange my shift so that I can be off for appointments.

You all seem so calm! I’m supposed to be starting at the beginning of January but am so nervous! We take normal well supplements and ubiquinol. Other than that I’m caffeine and alcohol free, eat well, exercise, don’t smoke etc. DH SA is all normal, I’m 34, my AMH is 9.1 so it’s the long protocol I think?

Best of luck to everyone!

Peekaboo81 · 11/12/2017 19:15

Hi, I'm starting my 1st ivf short cycle in jaunary aswell, my drugs arrive next week. I would love to share your journey x

Peekaboo81 · 11/12/2017 19:22

I'm 36, ttc first baby, I have low amh 4.8 but no other issues. We tried iui x3 unsuccessfully but now are moving onto 1st cycle of ivf short cycle at private clinic in January. I'm taking proxeed sachets and also have tried dhea 25mg (had to stop after 7 days as gave me chest pains). Is there anything else that helps to prepare your body? Thanks

Crayfishparty · 11/12/2017 20:43

Hi MissyPG and Peekaboo81

Not really calm but once you start all you can do is go along with what you are told to do! Also it is nice to feel something is happening.

I still haven’t got drugs yet! Hopefully they will phone tomorrow.

Aly82 well done changing shifts. I’m quite close to clinic, work for myself and don’t expect to be busy in January so hoping it all works out!

Daisy1980a · 11/12/2017 21:29

Hello Missy and Peekaboo

I'm not that calm but currently on my third and last round of Clomid so my energies have been on that - sure I will be more nervous in a couple of weeks! I am taking a multivitamin, cod liver oil, and co-enzyme Q10. Have read great things about DHEA so am going to order some of that as well. Sorry to hear about your side effects Peekaboo. I have also read that melatonin is good as well but I will be rattling at this rate!

Aly82 · 12/12/2017 00:19

Hello Missy and Peekaboo! Is nice to see that our group has 2 more members Smile. My medication arrived on Friday and I must say a lot of niddles Shock, the good part is if they help all of these will be forgotten! Good luck all!

Hello, all! Is really quite in here. I have some updates (first step) today I started de pill,my period was early 4 days and it was more a spotting. I called the clinic because I didn't know if I had to count spotting as first day.they said is not a problem if is early and they won't change any appiments date .also spotting is counted as first day. Now I have to wait until begining of January for my scan and injections. What about you all? Any changes?Smile

OP posts:
Crayfishparty · 18/12/2017 21:33

Hi Aly82
It is so odd, I was told to wait until day 2 to start pill and that spotting doesn’t count, has to be full flow!!
I have endometrial scratch very soon, I’m quite nervous now and meds coming soon.
Sometimes everything seems doable then it all just hits you and it feels impossible.

Aly82 · 19/12/2017 07:41

Hi crayfishparty! Strange isn't it? I called them just to be sure because it was just a dark spotting. Maybe clinics have different approaches? I don't know. Good luck for your endometrial scratch and let us know the updates!!! I believe nothing is impossible, just some things need more effort !
