What are everyone's journeys with Clomid? I'm starting my first Clomid cycle this month so fingers crossed!

It made me a bit irritable, but other than that it was fine. It's generally well tolerated.

Good luck!

3rd cycle was a sticky one!

I'm irritable at the best of times because I know I'm not ovulating so that I can cope with! 😂 x

I was probably being too subtle. Think PMS from Hell where you want to murder DH for breathing.

Oh god 😂. Well if it works it will all be worth it! 🤞 x

It wasn't like that all the time, but there were moments...

You might want to warn hubby and just be aware that if you feel he needs to die it's probably the Clomid talking. Smile

We wound up with a fine baby boy who's off to uni next year, so yes, totally worth it. Grin

@MissConductUS

How many cycles were you on Clomid before you conceived? He'll just have to put up with me and my psycho self haha! X

It was six cycles. They were just about to start me on injectibles when I caught.

This was quite some time ago, and I'm in the States and had private insurance, so I've no idea what the protocol will be for you or even what the current interventions are if Clomid fails.

When we were ready for number two I thought my psycho twin sister was going to have to return but I wound up conceiving by accident (it was one of those 3:00 AM half asleep moments) just before I was going to go back to my RE. She later explained to me that a successful pregnancy will often clear up fertility issues and make conception later much easier.

Might I ask how old you are? I was 38 when I was on Clomid.

I'm hearing lots of success stories so feeling quite positive at the minute! I'm 22 so still young, but have been trying for two years and in the last 7 months of using ovulation tests I haven't ovulated once. I think six cycles is roughly the limit to be on Clomid over here. My consultant said that if Clomid doesn't work there's nothing he can do other than refer me for assisted conception. So crossing my fingers for these next six cycles! X

I finished my first course of clomid last week and am now in my fertile week!
It did make me pretty cranky but I would agree, just warn the hubby and say it will all be worth it in the end haha
I'm hoping so badly that I ovulate this month and if I become pregnant this month, then even better!! Grin
What dose have you been given? I'm on 100mg

Report
dperkins64013 · 22/10/2017 20:46

I've been given 50mg to start with. Then having day 18 and 21 blood tests and depending on the results then I'll be upped to 100mg if needed. Just hoping now that this is my time! X

I had no side effects on clomid, found it completely fine and we conceived on our third cycle of 50mg.

I've looked up the standard dosage and it's to start at 50mg and then increase if there's no response. But it's all at the discretion of the clinician. I can see how some might say that if the drug has a good safety record you could be wasting time starting at the lower dose.

The current recommendation is also to move on after three unsuccessful cycles.

I guess they had fewer treatment options 18 years ago when I was TTC.

@NC1990, did you just take the Clomid recently, or was your experience in the distant past, like mine?

Hi all I’ve had 12 rounds of clomid (at different times) my first being 11yrs ago and was able to get caught 2nd time around then was trying for 7yrs with new partner also had ivf and unfortunately didn’t work and ended me with a stint in hospital me and my partner split 3yrs ago and have a new partner now I had one month left of clomid so took them when we decided to try and got caught straight away but this ended in a Mc my Fertility clinic has said they won’t give me anymore clomid and since then we have had 4 attempts at iui which have all failed (I won’t try ivf again as last time was very seriously ill) I have been doing research online as I know that clomid would work for me but was wondering if anyone else has ever bought clomid online and been successful?
Many thanks

50mg worked first time for me. Didn’t really have any side effects other than a few days of feeling warmer than normal. Good luck!

I have just completed my second round of 50mg of clomid. I have my day 21 blood test today to see if it’s working or not. If not I will be going up to 100mg. I have seen a few side effects with clomid such as hot flushes. The first month I kept getting a horrible taste in my mouth too but nothing on the second cycle. My hormones are a bit all over the place which they were before but seem to be a little bit worse since clomid. Not sure if going on a higher dosage will make the side effects worse or not. I know some people haven’t had any side effects so I think everyone is different and I suppose it depends on what the body can handle!

Day ‘21’ test tomorrow! Had my first cycle this cycle - monitored. Found the cans a bit difficult emotionally. Was upset after the first two scans when they wouldn’t tell me much... after the third they said I likely ovulated cd15!!! She said I responded like ‘classic pcos’ even though I haven’t had the blood tests for it... just pco on scans.

No fingers crossed for this cycle as I’m aware I don’t get that sort of luck!!

I've been diagnosed with PCOS and this is my first month of clomid at 50 a day. I am on metformin, and was on it for two months before being prescribed clomid. The Metformin actually gave me one textbook 28 day cycle before I started taking the clomid (had not had a period for over six months before that, so the clomid had already been prescribed), so I had really high hopes that everything was going to align for a much wanted BFP for month one on clomid.. But my day 12 scan has confirmed that the clomid has done absolutely nothing, and I am unreasonably dissapointed about it... It's really great to hear all the different clomid stories from all you ladies to know that everyone has had a different experience xx
