Planning to start IVF in January

Today me and DH are starting 3 months of prepping ourselves for another round of IVF.

Healthy eating, no booze, etc.

Anyone else doing this?

We did. Now trying to be good before FET but struggling... Due to the lack of kitchen for a few weeks, I've got into some bad habits ☹️

Does your lifestyle need a lot of tweaking? Or is it all manageable?

It's the no booze which will be the hardest I think!

Foodwise I'm really good, DH great with exercise but does like his 'treat' foods.

Went to do a big organic food shop yesterday but it's so expensive, I can't justify the expense as well as paying for another cycle of IVF Sad

Hi twinkle/JoJo

May I join?

I'll be doing a FET in January. We went through the process of EC in August, and froze what eggs we had, and now just waiting to do our FET in Jan. We decided to wait until January, mainly as that works best for us.

DH and I have been TTC 33 months, so by the time it's Jan, it'll be 36 months.

Honestly, we haven't really changed our lifestyle or eating habits, or are thinking to, maybe that's where we are going wrong? Neither of us are over weight, however, we aren't the healthiest of eaters. I hate fruit and veg, lol.

Yikes, this thread, and writing my response has just given me a reality hit! Maybe I should reassess?

Any of you taking supplements?

Sorry, I should add, DH plays football regularly, and up until this year I've been playing netball since 11. I hike occasionally, and am usually quite active.

Welcome ticktock.

I take coq10, iron, folic acid and pregnacare conception.

We've done 1 week no booze but food hasn't been great.

Done a healthy food shop to come on Tuesday though so ready to get going!

TickTock, sounds like we've been trying for the same length of time :) or perhaps :( Were you not able to have a transfer last month or did you choose to wait before transfer?

Twinkle, I know what you mean about organic food - it really adds up! Last time I went to the supermarket, I paid attention to the prices and noticed that organic food was often double the price of the non-organic equivalent. I see you mentioned 'another round'. Which go will it be for you? Did you do all the prep before too?

We made many changes to in the run up to our IVF round. We both took supplements (Profertil for him and her), made our diet extra healthy (we normally have 8 of our 5 a day anyway but we also cut out booze, cut down on caffeine and I managed to cut down on sweet treats which is my biggest problem). I've also did acupuncture and took Chinese herbs. DH is super fit and I'm in ok shape (can do press ups, run a few k etc) but my BMI tends to be just over 25 due to my sweet tooth.

In prep for our FET I'm doing acupuncture, Chinese herbs, folic acid and as I'm vegetarian I'm taking a algae Omega 3 and a veggie multivitamin + folic acid. Also, our kitchen refurb is almost finished so I'm cooking properly again :) I had an appointment with the consultant this week and we're going to have the FET in October already!

Don't get me started on organic food prices. I noticed in Sainsbury's last week that a three pack of organic peppers is £2.25 as opposed to £1 for none organic.

In my poorer weeks I just scrub the none organic veg extra hard and tell myself it probably won't matter anyway. The difference in price really does annoy me though!

Jojo - good luck for your FET in October.

We have a son, aged 3, conceived via IVF FET. In the run up to the FET I transformed my diet - lots of organic fresh food, dropped the sugar in my tea, switched to decaf, and husband gave up drinking for 3 months.

We had had a failed IVF last Dec and a failed FET in March earlier this year. Sad

This is last chance saloon for us so throwing everything at it.

Wow, tinkle and Jojo sounds like you both are being really disciplined! Keep it up!

Jojo - good luck for October, thats great news! Keep us posted!

We didn't do a transfer last month, as the timings didn't really suit us. We have a wedding to go to in November in South Africa and wanted to wait until after then as didn't want this to be lingering over us and affect the trip. As we want to transfer two eggs, felt it would be better for a due date post September.

Tick Tock, how measured! I'm so impatient- would like everything to happen ASAP.

Twinkle, sounds like you were very disciplined last time.

I'll keep you posted ladies.

I've been rubbish food wise! Just can't seem to get back into the swing of things, diet wise. On the plus side I've been taking my supplements and I haven't been drinking alcohol.

We are going abroad for our next cycle, looking at costs, still so so expensive but time is running out.

Yes, I'm also impatient, I guess I'm just trying to exert some control over something I can't control. I don't want this to dictate my life, but I guess this is how I feel I can manage it in a way I'm not feeling broken at whatever the end result is.

Good luck, yes I know what you mean on the costs, it'll be worth it in the end. Fingers crossed!

We're private also. Abroad? Where are you having yours?

We are looking at either Serum in Athens or Reprofit in Prague. We want to cycle in December / January - we should've thought this through really as they're the coldest months and we'd have our 3-yr-old with us. I don't really fancy taking him to Prague in the coldest month of the year but it is the cheaper option.

We have a Skype call with Serum booked for Tuesday.

Who are you cycling with?

Is this thread still being used? 😊

Just found out that my FET cycle failed, so will have a second fresh cycle in January.

I didn't do anything too special last time. So, planning on doing more. E.g.: taking supplements, following a book with advice.

I also had a thin lining last round. So, would really like to focus on sorting this too.
Xx

Thanks twinkle. Feeling really sad about it.

Planning on buying some coq10, and pregnacare today.

But I'm worried about taking the coq10. I think because I had a good AMH level. But then didn't have many eggs left to freeze. I really want more eggs this time round. Also, a thicker lining. Mines was to thin imo. And will eat lots of protein.

Have you changed your diet? X

I am trying to change my diet but life gets in the way!

I try and eat low carb which means high protein but it doesn't always work out like that 😬

Hope you enjoyed your weekend of fun food!

I had avocado and salad with my lunch and will boost my dinner tonight with broccoli and asparagus.
