Appointment brought forward! Panicking slightly!

So, weirdly given it's a Saturday, I just had a call from St Mary's in Manchester about our initial appointment which was originally scheduled for 11th December. She said they've put on extra clinics and can see us on Wednesday. THIS WEDNESDAY!

I'm feeling so many emotions - excitement, terror, anxiety, the thrill of possibility . . .

But given that we need donor eggs due to my premature ovarian failure, I'm thinking they'll just tell us that unless we have our own egg donor lined up (which we don't) we'll have to go private - am I right?

I've been offered an NHS DE cycle at Guys and was told that I have to find my own donor. That can be either through a friend/family member or agency.

Agency prices vary. I've found a couple for around £2000 plus cost of reimbursement for donor which is £750.

We've got friend who has offered to be our donor, but I'm really not sure yet. It's such an emotional mindfuck isn't it? POF (which I also have) is such a horrible thing to come to terms with.

Best of luck for your appointmentSmile

Thank you Isthismummy - good luck to you too!

I have a friend who has offered to be a donor - she's 35 so right on the upper limit! However she had an ovary removed due to a cyst so I very much doubt she would be considered a good candidate. My sister has also offered but she lives in a different part of the UK so I don't know how logistics would work, and it took her almost two years to conceive her son so there might be fertility issues there.

I suppose you can only go and see what they say? My ed is in another part of country too, so I'd actually be really interested in their response if you don't mind reporting back please?

Best of luck with it allSmile

IsThisMummy I was about to update you with what they told me at the appointment today but I can't PM you for some reason - can you mail me and I'll reply? Thanks!
