IVF referral arrived after miscarriage, should I still go?

In April 2016 DH had a semen analysis as he had an undescended testicle. His initial and secondary semen analysis came back at 0% motility and 2 million sperm per millilitre, it was described as 'severely restricted'. We met with the fertility nurse who recommended ICSI due to the low sperm count and quality of sperm.

In January we found out we were pregnant but sadly lost the baby two weeks later at 8 weeks. The IVF referral arrived the week I lost my baby. I really, really don't want to have IVF/ICSI and I can't think about it without getting upset. I feel like I spent the 'best' part of a year trying to get this referral and the miscarriage has completely thrown me.

I am 25 and DH is 37. We have been trying since February 2016 so not a long time in the grand scheme of things and the initial semen analysis was done on the off chance that his undescended testicle had affected his sperm count.

Would you go ahead with IVF? My fertility letter says I have a FSH of 7.5 and the progesterone was 39. I really don't know what any of this means. Would you carry on trying to conceive naturally with these numbers and DH's low sperm count? Or am I fooling myself?

Three months before we got pregnant DH started taking loads of Zinc and Selenium and we don't know whether this has had any affect and are a little loathe to go back for another semen analysis in case the NHS cancels the referral.

Only you can answer that really OP. It's jsit taking that chance, you are only young. You have a good ovulation if it's at 39 and your only young at 25. IVF is a long process especially on NHS so you could still go through the referral while trying naturally and which one comes first.

it's a tough question. your test results have showed that you are totally healthy. you have good ovarian reserve and you are still young. It means that there is no worry about your fertility. but you told that your hubby has low sperm motility and this a question to think about.
once we have faced with this issue, but we had to use icsi, I know you are against reproductive issues at all. but firstly, you have to speak about with you doc. probably he'll tell you the ways out. anyway, keep trying, maybe one day you'll succeed.
Take care!!!

In your position, I would seriously consider IVF/ICSI. I'm very sorry that you lost your baby but thing it was literally a miracle that you conceived and wouldn't expect another miracle to happen. I think it's a great idea to stay super healthy and take supplements to increase your chances of IVF success.

My DH had low motility due to a varicocele/inherited (severe!)varicose veins. We had ICSI feb 2015 - worked first time and we have a beautiful little girl :)
You have a really good chance if you are healthy.

I would go and discuss all these things you have mentioned with the Fertility team. They will be able to discuss what it all means. If it helps the 3 couples I know who had ICSI/IVF due to male fertility problems only all have babies/children now, but at your age you do have plenty of time on your side, so may not want to rush into it as you may get lucky again.
