IVF in Spain / Greece / Czech Republic using own eggs

Has anyone had IVF abroad using their own eggs?

I'm looking into IVF in Spain / Greece / Czech Republic as DH and I have had one (very expensive) failed round where we live in the Middle East and couldn't freeze any embryos as it is illegal here. I wanted treatment abroad from the start for this reason but DH thought it would be too stressful, he has changed his mind now and I am i the middle of my research!

The Fertility Friends website has loads of info and (overwhelmingly long threads!) but most people on that forum seem to be using donor eggs The info on the websites for the clinics in Spain etc seem to confirm that this is the case.

I would love to hear the experiences (good and bad) of ladies who have had treatment with their own eggs Smile

I haven't had any treatment yet, but last night I had a phone consultation with Penny from Serum Clinic in Athens.

She gave me more kindness and hope in twenty minutes than any medical staff in UK have managed in the last year. We've been totally written off here, but Penny made me feel that we might just have a chance and if not then she'll do everything she can to help us first. She's clearly very passionate about what she does. She spoke a lot about the importance of uterine environment and how getting all the factors right is vital for both natural and assisted conception. All stuff that nobody has even touched on with me in this country.

I really don't think you could go far wrong by getting in touch with SerumSmile

Good luck with wherever you go though.

I'm so glad you have a way forward isthismummy. How long did it take to get a telephone consultation?

I emailed them yesterday and have the forms to fill in.

They also emailed the documents for infection testing and I'm wondering if that might be a worthwhile use of 300 euros Confused The collection method is a bit gross though!

I've also emailed IVI in Madrid and have a Skype consult which they charge 145 euros for and got initial forms for Gest in Prague and Reprofit.

It will be interesting to see what they all have to say.

I sent my form to them and got a telephone consultation with Penny within a week sheikhandbake She is SO lovely. It was so nice to talk to someone positive and not basically be written off as a hopeless case.

I personally think that the infection testing is well worth doing. I will be sending my period to Greece as soon as possible🙂 Penny talked a lot about how hidden infections are very common and how they can basically make the uterus a hostile environment where no ivf will work anyway! I like the fact that she seems very through in her approach and genuinely seems to care. I also didn't have to explain a single thing to her as she'd obviously read my form really carefully before the consultation. I really appreciated that.

I emailed Guest as well, but my gut feeling told me to go with Serum. They come we'll recommend on here as well though, as do Reprofit. I think it's a case of following your instincts really, and going for the one that calls to you the most.

Congrats Blondes!

We have a Skype appointment for IVI in Madrid in a couple of weeks, its a 8 hour flight to Madrid from where we are so not so convenient for us.

Do you have any idea what they did differently at IVI that made the difference for you? I've read about their embryoscopes but would love to hear your thoughts. (No rush as I am sure DD is taking up a lot of your attention, enjoy the cuddles Smile!)

I think it was the amount of drugs. They gave me more /higher dose

I know it's a tricky line. Too less and don't stimulate. Too much and risk ohss

Plus their whole overall approach with technology and cleanliness was miles ahead

Ie uk clinic I walked from room with chair in bare feet to next door to have eggs back. Df with me in normal clothes and shoes and walked back and sat in chair ten mins and went home

Ivi. I walked to theatre (so same) tho I was in gowns and blue shoes and df shied and booted in gown hat shoes etc

Once had transfer I was pushed back on trolley. Slid gently into bed (all rooms in ivi are private with bed ,sofa and en suite) and told to lie there with knees bent for think 15m then rest for an hour /get up when I want

My daughter. Omg - love saying that - was a fet from our first cycle there but 3rd fresh cycle overall - and 5th attempt

After 4 failed (fet from cycle 3) I had two era to Check the lining and turned out my body responded better to an extra days of womb lining drugs

In the end tho we had a week extra as on holiday. Got scanned when back and lining still at right level so had fet

I will never know if was just lucky - flukey - or that the extra drugs I had made the embryo stick

Their freezing techniques are much better at ivi

And everything is done in that one building which is huge !!!!

We had dr hauzman

Hello

I am in the same boat and was doing search on the same topic when I bumped on your thread. May I know which clinic did you end of selecting and how was your experience.

I hope it worked out for your in the end.
