Infertility

Down regulation and period?

Hiya

I'm currently DR on Burselin and still have not had my period. (I'm about four days late than when I was normally due prior to DR)

I wiped and had very light pink bleed (sorry TMI)

Baseline scan is due next Tuesday and worried if I am late in my period that this will delay the scan date.

Maybe I am just panicking for no reason. I very much doubt it I am pregnant as we were advised not to have unprotected sex from day 1 of this cycle.

Confused and worried at mo don't want this to delay the next stage! :(

Thanks in advance

Hi Hun! So I'm 2 weeks into DR and my period came on Saturday (3 days late - I was worried too!)
My period is also really light, this confused me as I was told it should be heavier and last longer than normal. Well it hasn't been at all. It was semi-normal on day 1, day 2 was bright red but very light and by day 4 it was practically non existent.
I've been panicking as I've read about cysts but I posted in an IVF support group on fb and I've had LOADS of responses, all saying that there period was really light or really late too and they had no problems and that their linings were/are thin enough.

Many ladies said they were still on when their scan came around, and not to worry as the nurses have seen it all before.

I guess what I'm trying to say is don't worry yourself too much! (Easier said than done I know, I'm still trying to tell myself.)
It hasn't all gone wrong yet! And until they tell you it has, there's nothing to worry about 😘
If your lining is still a bit thick at your scan then you'll just DR a few days longer.

Good luck xxxxxxx and remember we're all different

Ah great, glad it came. It's so easy to get panicky isn't it!

I'm down in Oxford 😊 Is this your first IVF cycle?xx

Hey, sorry for late reply. Just been so busy with work.

Yes first time doing ICSI as we have male factor issue. How about you?

I have no idea what to expect! There's so much information available out on the net it's gets jarring after a while!

That's fine! Ah I see. Our infertility is still a mystery 😔

I know tell me about it, you could easily drive yourself crazy with the info on the internet. It's hard not to compare with others.

How did your scan go today?!

CrazyButterfly1 · 05/04/2017 11:53

Hi,

How are you?

Scan went fine thanks, now to start the stimms - Gonal F! Then I have to go in next week to check if its all working and then they will give me my EC date (feeling so nervous) which will probably be before the easter weekend.

I have had the most horrid headaches and patches of dry skin this past week.

Have you had your scan yet?

Xxx

Hey!

I'm ok thanks, hormonal and tired but I'm alright. My scan went well too, they said the lining was definitely thin enough and there were no cysts (that was my biggest worry).

I start Gonal F Thursday, are you the same?

My heads pounding too, I'm not sleeping great either as I'm so bloody hot at night 😖 I'm hoping the headaches subside now I'm down to one sniff in the morning and one at night, but I guess there are a whole load of other side effects from the stims!
They've anticipated my EC to be week commencing 17th, but I'm at high risk of OHSS so they're using quite a low dose of stims and that could take longer.

I'm nervous too, it's really strange because we were so worried waiting for that scan, then we get positive news and we're happy but it's back to being nervous and worrying and waiting for the next stage! What a rollercoaster.

Hope your feeling alright today x

That is good news, bet that was a relief. If it is not one worry it's another!

Yes same here re Gonal F.

Cool we appear to be on similar time line, best of luck lets hope that it all works and goes well! your right, It is such a rollercoaster ride.

I just purchased some solgar whey to go protein to help with the increase in protein, but now I am not so sure if it was a good idea. I have read mixed reviews but I don't know if I will be able to eat lots of protein if it was chocolate there would be no issue there lol.

Will you be doing anything during the stimming stage?

Thank you!

Is that something that's recommended then? Extra protein I mean. I haven't really thought about it, I'm lactose intolerant but I'm terrible a lot of the time and eat things I shouldn't (like chocolate in copious amounts) so I'm definitely steering clear of all dairy cause it puts my body under a lot of stress when I eat it. Other than that I'm just gonna try and stick to as normal a routine as possible! I'm quite active so I'll keep going to the gym and stuff.

Fair enough it is best to stay as normal as possible. I just read that during stimming it is preferable to up the protein to help with better quality of eggs how true this is - I really don't know!

Although I do like my shakes etc and I used to be a crazy gym bunny last year and now have got lazy :-(

Yeah I will probably up my protein too, I think it makes sense that that would help with egg quality. It's hard isn't it, there's so much information and so many opinions.

Eeeek first injection tonight 😬 Can't believe it's finally here. Has it been a long journey for you? What's your name btw?!

Hey how did you find the injection?

I was so nervous I had to watch the YouTube video to remind myself of what to do! It was okay stung a little then I decided to have a warm mug of milk. My other half is away for work and isn't back until Monday! Typical.

I've put the Gonal F back in the fridge but on the information booklet you can keep it out of the fridge? May ring the clinic to check tomorrow!

The journey itself is scary a mixture of emotions just praying it's a success and this time next year I'm sat with my munchkin. It's so difficult to remain positive !

How have you found the journey? Is this your first time?

I've read about using a hot water bottle didn't do it today but not sure ...

I just did mine! Wanted it to be around bed time cause I'm quite often out before hand. It was ok actually, little bit stingy but fine. I might use a hot water bottle, purely for snuggliness purposes 😊

What dose have you been prescribed to start? Mines 112.5, they're doing it low to avoid over stimulation cause I have over active ovaries.

Ugh the journey is just such a roller coaster, I've always thought I had a problem but I've never known for sure, and of course you have to have been trying for a certain amount of time before they'll investigate. Then even when they did all the tests they still couldn't find an issue, so I found all that really hard to come to terms with. Years of trying with no luck and no explanation!

I've been super hormonal the last few days, I'm surprised I still have an other half 😂 Bless him, he's so good to me. I did tell him to go out to the gym tonight so he could escape my mood for a bit, then remembered the injection so I did mine on my own too!! Xx

Morning,

I've been prescribed at 225, not sure why or what it means! Just ensure you drink plenty of water!

It is difficult not to blame yourself for the problem but it's not something you could have stopped, it just an unfortunate set of circumstances that all us ladies find ourselves in whether its us or our husband/partners. But there is amazing science out there and possibility of having a baby despite the obstacles in our way! Just have to try and remain positive (although I know it is difficult at times)

My husband got me the bounce balls, bless him. I think I may get addicted to them. I have only tried the almond one the other is the coconut and macadamia which I will probably try later!

So glad the weekend is almost here! This time next weekend we will probably know about our EC date/time!

Mmm bounce balls! They're nice, I found the almond one a bit too much to eat all in one go though.

Just injected my second dose and now I'm going to get in the bath, my hips, bum, lower back and legs have been so so achey today. I could really feel it whilst standing up all day at work, and driving home too. Wonder if that's the injections?

Ah I know, only 5 more shots until my scan, is yours Wednesday too?

I really hope this is works out for us both and we are catching up in a years time on how life is with a baby!

My mood is definitely better today, how are you feeling? Xx

Morning, what a lovely sunny day it is!

Yep same here the almond was a bit much so had remainder later!

It possibly could be, do you drive alot - if so perhaps that doesn't help?

It could be a combination. Thankfully I only work part time I do not think that I'd be able to do this whilst holding down a full time job and doing lengthy journeys! I have still had a heavy head at times, lower back pain and just feeling tired, a little emotional (but I think that may be trying to remain positive and then worrying) and very thirsty especially in the mornings.

My scan and blood test is Tuesday and then they will confirm when the next one is which I assume will be either Friday or Saturday so there be no major plans for this coming Easter weekend.

I didn't have much planned for today and I ended up doing all the cleaning and washing and running around tidying. Then I realised I should take it easy but it was too late by then. I could just do with sitting in the garden with a book and nice glass of wine!

Hope your feeling better and you have a lovely weekend :-) xx

Ah yeah it's sooo nice out! Just out on a walk oh my lunch break, feeling positive today, the sun definitely helps.

It's definitely a hormonal sort of ache, feels a bit like my periods coming actually, the hip and lower back aches!

I think taking it easy is good but trying to remain normal too! Like if your body's not used to sitting about all the time then I think why start now! I think I am doing too much though, I've cut back on the gym but I do work full time and it's about 45 mins each way from where we live currently! Then I teach cycle classes too so it can get a bit much. I've cut out most of my classes and I'm only going to the gym a few days a week if that so I'm getting some more rest time. Gosh I was so tired last night though, I normally find it hard to get to sleep early but I think I knocked out at about half 9!

I forgot all about the Easter weekend. Don't know how it will affect my cycle though. I guess my ec definitely won't be Monday! X

CrazyButterfly1 · 08/04/2017 15:52

Your a proper gym bunny then! I stopped spin classes in January they changed the instructor and I didn't like the teaching style of the replacement ! It is true it's best to stay as normal as possible.

I've had a nice afternoon at the park with my sister and Nieces.

I don't think it should cause any issues I believe the clinic (well mine is) open over the Easter break. I guess you can ask on Wednesday!

To be honest the nurse was not helpful at all! I had a call in the afternoon and she advised that I needed to increase my dosage of Gonal F. I then asked her why this was and she said you haven't responded as expected to the dosage I am on. That was it!

I felt so deflated yesterday, maybe my body just responded too well to the burselin during DR and not to the Gonal F.

I don't even know if this increase in dosage is going to help and I felt like giving up altogether but i've just thought I will see what happens on the next scan and if there is no change I am guessing I really dont know either they will tell me to abandon the cycle or keep me on stimms for a few days longer I really don't know! :(

Oh I'm so gutted you had a bad experience 😔
Don't be too disheartened Liz! Upping the dose will probably help, it's not the end yet! So you might have to stimulate a few days longer, I know that sucks. It's really irritating and if you're anything like me you don't want this to be drawn out any longer than it has to be! But when times going quickly and I'm sure you'll be totally ready to go in no time at all. The doctors know what they are doing and if they want to up the dose it must be because that's what will work for you.

As for the nurse, that is disgraceful! They should go through it all with you step by step! Phone them back and ask for more details?! It's not over yet, please try stay positive and don't let her lack of care get to you. Upping the dose will help.

I had my scan this morning, it actually went well and I'm just shocked because like you, nothing ever goes right for me. I've been panicking because I'm on such a low dose, but that's all I needed I guess. We're all different.

Keep me updated with whats happening with you! There WILL be change on your next scan. But honestly phone them, rather than driving yourself crazy xxxxx
