How much is IVF + ICSI?

We've just been told by the NHS consultant that we need IVF + ICSI. DH has low morphology.

We don't get referred until May and then the waiting list is 6-8 months, so the earliest we would start treatment would be December.

We are both pretty devastated.

We are spending our savings on property right now and will have nothing left for IVF. We will have to save again.

Does anyone know how much on average IVF+ICSI costs? I understand it can be cheaper in Europe than in the UK?

Hi there,

Similar issues for us regarding fertility, low morphology for DH and our GP has said he will refer us for a consultation looking toward ICSI.

From my extensive trawling my local clinics seem to price a single round of IVF at £2,999, ICSI adds £999 to this cost and then apparently the drugs required are anything from £650 - £1,500

This doesn't include any investigations or tests they might want you to have.

Hope this helps Flowers

Thank you. Sorry you are in the same boat. £5-6k does seem to be about average for the UK.

I think we might really look at Europe and see if we can club together the money for that quicker

jam most clinics publish their prices - for London try CRGH, Create, London Womens Clinic or Lister.
For Spain try IVI.
I think my stimulated round of IVF with assusted hatching cost around £9k - but CRGH is pricey.

We did one round of IVF + ICSI and it cost just shy of 10k. This was at CARE. We paid slightly more as needed surgical sperm retrieval, think that was about 1k. We also paid for embryoscope and had embryos left over to freeze. My drugs ended up costing way more than we had been quoted (I didn't respond at all for the first week so essentially wasted a week's worth of drugs). We didn't need any tests either so that cost is just the IVF.

Thanks both.

Create Fertility in London seem a bit more reasonable - but its so annoying when they don't just put the total cost in front of you and there are brackets for all the things left out!

I really think we will look overseas for a cycle before the NHS IVF kicks in. We get two goes on the NHS I believe, and then back to European clinics if no luck.

london if you've had all the tests and things on the NHS that will at least cover some of the costs that we've paid going private (NHS didn't help as we have 1 DC). We're having ICSI and it's £4300 plus £1000 for drugs. But have spent a lot on the tests and consultations as well.

Look at Reprofit in Brno, Czech Republic. I couldn't recommend it more (result from round one is currently sat in my lap)

It's around £1500 for ivf including icsi (medication will cost you another £1000) the price list is online

Varies on clinic but looking at minimum of £3.5k for basic ivf - plus £1k ish for icsi plus then drugs on top - mine were £140 a day and think needed 12 - started off with 10 so £1400 then another £280

Then some charge more for extra scans - or the camera imaging which think is 50/1000 clinic depending.

Then some charge for glue or scratch

So least £6/7k plus any extras

Agree abroad is much chewer. I used ivi in Madrid - currently 36w preg

Ivi is more exp then some - ie reprofit

Get as many blood tests done on NHS. We did get some done but had to pay for others as did private ivf as df has kids so lost NHS right

Tho once we had 2 failed uk and spent £12k we looked abroad but as had been over a year since did blood tests has to redo them and was easier to do them at ivi and get all results back there and then - as they have huge lab on site

Just got the flipping bill for ours! Not having the egg collection for another 10 days or so, is it usual to pay this far in advance? What if we can't proceed for any reason?

Absolutely sure Blonde. They gave us the price list in July last year after NHS tests. We don't qualify for IVF on the NHS though but I wonder if they can get away with putting some tests through the NHS to lower the cost. Just IVF (not icsi) is £1200 less.

My figures were slightly out but here's the price list. Up to £4950 for icsi and drugs.

3650 for icsi
400 blast
1300 drugs

I added the top drugs as rbh I don't know anyone who had drugs less then £1200

£5350 - total using their figures - you need to blast unless go back at day 3 and not suitable for blasting

drugs are a hard thing as some need more drugs and for extra day or two

Plus If have few left over to freeze then add another 560 on top so total is £5910.00

Just under £6k for icsi blast and freeze

The little things add up - just wanted to pre warn you for your budget x

@blackcherries. It's normal to pay for all upfront or some might not pay

Check t&c but if you don't manage to get to ec you may get some money back

@Blondeshavemorefun congratulations! I am thinking about using IVI. Is the Madrid one easy to get to from the airport?

I just paid £900 for blood tests to see if I am MC issue.

At my clinic CRGH you normally pay for all treatment in advance.

Reprofit in Brno Czech Republic are excellent, facilities and care were as very good, better than my experience at some top Uk clinics. Success rates also high- definitely second it. Wouldn't use anywhere else.

...and flights/accomdation cheap so still cheaper than UK & everyone knows the clinic so travel is easy.

Isis in Cyprus also good but I prefer reprofit.

Hi yes very easy. We got a taxi which was think 45euros each way

We did think about hiring a car but the madrians 😉 Are mad drivers 😂😂

I can recommend the hotel in pic. It's literally 5mins from clinic if you need to stay over for ec

We flew in and out but only as ec was inbetween xmas and ny and hotel prices insane so was cheaper to fly in twice

But we did stay over night for et one cycle end another time Flew in and out in a day

Thanks blondes. I think I may try the Barcelona one as the airport is much nearer the city than in Madrid. I learnt to drive in Barcelona - so Madrid would be a breeze Grin - have driven there quite a few times. But maybe Madrid is better for cheap flights... not sure. Anyway all worth looking into.
