Gonal F. How can I help my friend?

My colleague is undergoing fertility treatment and has asked me to help with her Gonal F injections (daily) and another injection which is weekly (sorry for being vague, but it was a bit of a shock and I didn't pay attention to the name of the medication). Am absolutely fine to do the jabs and feel very honoured. But there seems to be a very particular method of doing them (not just popping the needle in and bobbing it out asap). Can anyone advise? I have given insulin jabs in the past and self-injected (for medical purposes!) but appreciate that all jabs are different. Any advice on making this not horrid for her would be appreciated. Thanks.

What a kind thing to do for your colleague. I have just finished my IVF jabs and the best tip I can give would be for her to numb the area with an ice pack for 10 mins before you give the injections, I found this really helped.

my DH gave me my jabs and because he couldn't be at the hospital when I was shown what to do, I filmed the nurse giving me instructions. Could your colleague do that? Or alternatively, he also watched a few YouTube videos, I'm sure you'd find one for gonal f. Once you have done it once you'll be fine, good luck!

Gonal-F is super easy

It comes in an epipen. You just turn the dial to the required dose, pinch a bit of tummy, stab it in and press the plunger. Then check the dial is at 0 and put the pen back in the fridge

It's an insulin needle so you'll be very familiar with them

Only tip for Gonal-F is to let it warm up when you take it out the fridge before injecting it

It's super easy - we didn't have an injection teach so just watched YouTube videos
