Scan and bloods

They'll scan your ovaries (usually can be done over the tummy but sometimes transvaginally) to look for cysts on them.

They will also take bloods to test hormone levels.

They may weigh you and check your height.

They'll probably ask you about any other symptoms - your periods, any acne, hair growth etc.

There's three criteria to be diagnosed with PCOS - you need to have at least 2 out of the 3:

1. Irregular or absent periods
2. Clinical and / or biochemical signs of hyperandregonism (in English : indication that male hormones (androgen) are too high, either by blood hormone levels or by outward signs of too much testosterone (eg acne, facial hair)
3. Polycystic ovaries on ultrasound

So tests for PCOS should involve a history, bloods and a pelvic ultrasound (this will be done by transvaginal ultrasound aka dildocam)
