Help......

I've been trying to get pregnant for 2 years and have been told that both tubes are blocked. I am now being referred for IVF. I dream of conceiving naturally and want to try whatever I can to avoid it if I could. However if I tried everything I had read about online it would be very expensive and probably not good for the body. I wondered if anyone had actually conceived naturally after being told both their tubes were blocked and what they used.

I'm sorry but all the woo in the world is not going to help you conceive if your tubes are indeed blocked. If you've only been diagnosed by hsg or ultrasound then you should probably get a laparoscopy to either confirm the diagnosis or see if anything more medically can be done.

Before I had my hsg I was told that you could have an operation to try to unblock your tubes but it did increase the risk of an ectopic pregnancy - have you discussed this with a fertility nurse or dr?

I lost one tube to an ectopic and the other was blocked. I went for IVF and was pregnant within 8 months of my diagnosis (and that included a few months of dithering about what we wanted to do).
If your tubes are blocked then there aren't really any useful alternative solutions to IVF.

Recanalisation of blocked tubes has a very low success rate

For optimal IVF success many Drs would recommend having your tubes removed as the toxic nature of the fluid can spill into the uterine cavity and prevent implantation

IVF isn't expensive if you're being referred on the NHS

It's not bad for your body in any meaningful way

Pregnancy and childbirth will do far more 'damage' to your body than IVF will
