Clomid worries

Hi, I'm new to this so forgive me for not using all the acronyms.
So after 3 years of trying for a baby I'm about to start my first cycle of Clomid. My doctor tells me "lots of babies are born using clomid" but after 3 years of trying I still can't believe this is ever going to happen.
All my friends have at least 1 child and, although I have told my best friend about our journey, I don't feel comfortable openly discussing my infertility. Would anyone mind sharing their experience of Clomid? I feel very alone with this although husband is fantastic he's not experiencing the same emotional roller coaster I do each month. Thank you.

Hello

Me (22) and my fiancé (28) have been trying for 1.5years with no success to then find out I have pcos. Nothing wrong with my partner just me. We have just done our first cycle of 50mg clomid without success. I'm praying it will work for us. I have very very irregular cycles so before I take clomid every month I have to take notethistone to get my periods going which sucks because my cycles are soooo long.

Trust me that you are not alone in thinking clomid will not work. I have the exact same mind set. I don't get my periods naturally if at all. I never see a positive opk etc

Baby dust to you

My clomid baby is now 12!
The best advice I was given was to stop trying! The consultant told me that clomid doesn't work in the first month as it kick starts everything to work in the 2nd month. So after over 2 years of ttc and stressing, we only dtd once that month!
DC2 came along quickly as I had presumed I would need clomid to make me ovulate again. I didn't!
So for all that, none of my DC's were actually tried for!
Good luck OP!

Hi Sophie, I too have PCOS and for many years had erratic periods. sometimes bleeding continuously, sometime nothing for over 6 months. I'm 35 now and only in the last 2 years have my periods become regular (although it turns out I'm not ovulating!)
Good luck to you too.

@ Wonderpants thanks for your message I'm going to try to not worry so much and go with the flow, just feel like time isn't on my side...

Hello
I took clomid after ttc for nearly 2 years. I fell pregnant the 2nd month of taking it. Unfortunately that pregnancy ended in miscarriage but I conceived again without clomid 2 months later. I now have a 14 month old boy. I guess clomid kick started my ovaries and got things working.
Hope it works for you too

I was TTC for 16 months. One round of clomid and I'm now 33 weeks pregnant with my first. Very best of luck to you.

Welcome mrsunsure123

I pray clomid works for you. I have just finished my second round 50mg with no success. I have to go back 30th march to see what's next.

Clomid worked for me 1st cycle after 21 months of ttc. My daughter is now 9 weeks old. My tests showed that I was ovulating so I'm not sure if it was the cos that did the trick. I also took junior asprin that month as I read that it could help conception.

Good luck!

Hi all!

I have my next fertility appointment in June, and assuming I have reduced my weight, they are going to give me clomid. I have joined slimming world and started couch to 5k, so roll on June!

Hey all.

mrsunsure123 I have pcos and do not ovulate on my own. However my pcos is only very mild so I'm hoping a higher dosage maybe will work for me. Even if it makes me ovulate I'll be over the moon because I know they can then track me and give me stims to make it more likely for me to convince.

I really hope clomid gets prescribed to you garlicbreathing

I have noticed though this past week. Sorry tmi coming be warned lol. I have been dribbling loads of white creamy cm which is unusual for me. I'm currently on cd29 and had bloods on cd23 which confirmed I didn't ovulate so I haven't even bothered with a hpt Do you think I should take one just incase?

Clomid worked first cycle for us too, on lowest dose.

I took Primolut (this might be brand name) to start period as I had very long and irregular cycles, DTD many times over the two weeks dr recommended and lo and behold, resulting DS is turning 2 in a couple of weeks.

My due dates were pushed back 5 days compared to what I expected too, so likely I ovulated later than 'should have'. You never know, the bloods may have been wrong...

I've just caved in and took a test. Couldn't be more white if it wanted to :(.

I don't use opks because both clomid and pcos can give me false answers so I stay away. I was on 50mg so low dose. I hope they will up to 100mg and track my follies so we can time it right

I was left for 3 months with no tracking or anything which made me very angry but nothing I could do. So when I go back I will insist they track me this time otherwise I will just go elsewhere.

We had three cycles of clomid. There were some unpleasant side affects like bloating, dryness (so much so that I ended up with pretty bad thrush) and weight gain.

We found the pressure to dtd at the right times caused us many problems. There were arguments if one or the other of us just wasn't in the mood and it just became a mechanical process in the end.

We finally conceived naturally after two failed and one abandoned IUI. It happened on the one occasion when we weren't really trying as we'd given up hope that cycle.

I am under the nhs. I was told they just wanted to see if it took a few months for it to kick in and work which obviously it hasn't so I'm guessing now I'll have tracking.

I've always wanted children early and my partner has always wanted them before he's 30 so I really do hope we aren't waiting much longer :(

Clomid didn't work for me BUT it seems it kicked my body into touch, because three months after I stopped taking it, my now aged 2 ds was conceived! Complete surprise, but apparently it does happen! So, if it doesn't work, don't be disheartened, you might end up conceiving naturally after all.

I conceived my clomid baby on my third cycle. He's now 22. I did not need to use clomid again and I went on to have two more children. Middle son was conceived first month of trying and the youngest after three months of trying.

I had been trying to conceive for four years prior to taking clomid.
