Hi all,
Can someone please tell me what the difference is between the FSH/LH test and the AMH test?
Thanks.

I think fsh test looks for high levels of FSH as this can suggest low levels of ovarian reserves (the brain kicks out more fsh when there are fewer eggs to be stimulated) while amh tests ovarian reserve directly (so how many eggs are in your ovaries waiting to be ripened/released) so they aim to test the same thing but in different ways.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon!

Not sure that I am any more qualified, but IO agree with Epilepsyhelp. As we get older and our ovaries age, there are less eggs to be stimulated, so your FSH levels on day 2/3 of your cycle are higher because your brain has to pump out more of the stuff to stimulate your struggling ovaries.

As for AMH it is a hormone that each of your little baby follicles produces. From my personal experience and from other ladies AMH and antral follicle counts on here, ach little follicle tends to produce about .5 AMH. So basically, the higher you AMH, the more antral follicles you have on each ovary.

Hope this remotely makes sense!

Thank you both - so basically I want low FSH and LH and high AMH for a good result?

Hi,
I got my FSH and LH results back, I can't remember the exact figures but LH was 8 point something and FSH was 10 point something. Are these okay or high?
Still waiting for the AMH results.

I am in Australia and I initially remember comparing my FSH and LH results to a girl in America online and our results seemed to vary significantly - turned out that they use different unit of measurement to us in Australia. So not sure what unit you guys use in England.
