IVF 2WW- testing on Christmas Day! Anyone else at a similar stage?

JessieMcJessie · 17/12/2015 22:24

I had 3 embryos transferred on the 14th, by an embryologist wearing Christmas tree earrings.

It was a 5 day transfer- 2 blasts and a morula. It's our second IVF- first one was in Sept but only made it to 3dt so hoping we're in with a better chance this time.
Surely the universe couldn't possibly give me a test date of 25 December and a BFN?Smile
Have felt some mild twinges since transfer but still a bit early to expect symptoms. Not loving work Christmas parties without drinking, especially as people will assume I am pregnant.

Is anyone else doing a festive 2ww?

Hello. I am testing on Wednesday. It's my first time and, to be honest, I'm not massively confident. The progesterone has sent me a little bit bonkers which is not helping.

Is this your first time too? Do you have a plan in place in case it's not good news? Mine is basically to neck a bottle of wine.

I have my fingers crossed for you.

hi Champagne no, it's our second go. Last time the booze certainly helped but my main strategy was to plan the next one and immediately start to research supplements to try to improve our chances.

Are you madly symptom spotting? I have the same nausea I had with DS1 but I'm presuming that's just the progesterone. I'm also struggling not to tell every single person I speak to what's going on. We've chosen to tell only a small number of people but I'm starting to go a bit mad with the secrecy.

What are you doing on Christmas Day? Will you be with people who know what's going on?

I don't feel much different, maybe a few small twinges - keep hoping for some really unusual feeling that I have never had before. I have never had a child, only two chemicals, so no idea what a strong pregnancy feels like.

I know what you mean about telling people. I couldn't be bothered with the secrecy. I've told a few at work as needed time off and my non-drinking was going to raise questions anyway - I couldn't stand them thinking I was pregnant. My two closest female friends know all the detail. Family on both sides know we're in a cycle right now but not the exact dates.

We'll be with inlaws on Christmas day. They won't know I'm testing them but we'll tell them the result, good or bad. I get on well with all DH's family so no worries there.

Are you taking progesterone? It affects everyone differently. I'm having horrendous night sweats and very VERY vivid dreams. Plus bloating and nausea. I'm also getting the back pain that always heralds the onset of my periods but I'm telling myself that this could just as well be implantation and general settling in pains.

I should probably stop thinking about it so much!

I was in a similar position 2 years ago. It was our fourth round. I had EC on 5 December, transfer on the 8th. We were told all of our embryos bar one hadn't made it to day 3 and the one that remained was growing very slowly. The embryologist had a chat about moving on to donor eggs. I got a bfp just before Xmas. I had a tricky pregnancy but that 5 cell slow grower is now throwing Cheerios at me from her high chair. Smile. I hope you get your bfp. Thanks

Thanks all. It also showed up on a Clearblue digi yesterday, which was reassuring as to the amount of hcg. I'm very much conscious of the huge risk of miscarriage so it all feels quite nerve- wracking despite the positive. Trying to stay calm and distract myself with Christmas.

So sorry to hear that champagne. I hope you enjoyed the wine.
Thanks tiger and good luck for Jan.

I did another test today and it's darker so all seems fine so far but I can't really believe that I might have a human being growing inside me. Still expect it to fail, just seems too unreal.
