Hi all those girls ttc, I wanted to share my experience. We spontaneously conceived ds1 after one year when I was 32. When I was 34, and ds1 was 13 months, we started ttc. No joy at all, and we started ivf 2 years later, when I was 36. My egg quality turned out to be poor, and the next two years were full of heartbreak. All my other tests were normal, just poor quality eggs that either wouldn't fertilise properly, or embryos that wouldn't grow. We started to explore adoption and egg donation. Then, I read about coenzyme q10 and took 1200mg daily for three months, using an expensive version from Holland and Barrett. Dh took 400mg daily. ( I had read various anecdotal experiences, and reassured myself via the mayo clinic website that unlikely to be harmful). I am now 29 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy.
I am a hospital doctor and have come to realise, painfully, that many ivf strategies are not based on strong clinical evidence of efficacy. I have been reassured however by endocrinologists that I am unlikely to suffer adverse health effects relating to my ivf treatment. If you are ttc it.may be worth a try. Lots and lots of luck.and good wishes.
