Advertising for egg donors??

I have had a consultation today re egg donation (I have high fish and can't conceive naturally). The consultant advised us to advertise for egg donors. - I have been given a reference number, so it will be all anonymous.

This seems a little odd to me. Has anyone had any success with such an advert? Where did you advertise if so?

If you don't have any luck or are in a rush I'll be your egg donor. I always thought that would be a nice thing to do for someone.

Thank you so much, that is so kind. I am in a terrible rush, because I just want something to happen, but it is such a long and drawn out process.

But unfortunately I am in Liverpool which is really far from Brighton Sad

Thank you for offering though, it cheered me up no end to know that there are people kind enough to offer x

Distance might not be a problem, I wouldn't let that rule things out. I had sperm transported over from America in three days, dry ice is a wonderful invention!
Anyway offer is there x

A lot of people advertise on sofeminine forums, but you do get a lot of scroungers who just want to squeeze money out of you, so be careful. Alternatively, I know some couples have had luck advertising in local newspapers so maybe give that a try?

There are also agencies you can look into... I am an egg donor myself (in the South East) and am with Altrui, they got me matched to a couple within two months of signing up, I'm now just a few days away from egg collection, and they have been so supportive and helpful throughout the whole process.

Good luck, I hope you find a donor soon xxx

If you aren't set on a clinic yet try Care in Sheffield or Manchester as they often don't have waiting lists for egg donors. So it is worth giving them a ring for a chat through the options.

A good clinic should help you find an egg donor... Having said that I found my own donor on fertilityfriends.co.uk while I was on the clinic waiting list. I also posted on MN but they got a bit funny and pulled down my post.

I had a number of amazing ladies offer their help - genuine offers. No crazy ladies asking for money. I knew I'd struck gold with one though and we now have a beautiful girl.

The process of giving a reference code is standard so that your donor remains anonymous but is still is linked to you - it'd be a shame for your donor to contact your clinic and then be matched with someone else.

If I were you I would give serious consideration to the Brightonmummy - she sounds kind and just like my donor was. Nice characteristic to have in a child too.

Good luck with everything Smile

Hi Bobby
That's such a kind offer - but we've removed this - we don't allow this kind of exchange on Mumsnet
Kindest to you all

Hi all. Pachyrhinosaurus I hope you have been successful in finding your donor.

I am also looking for egg donation after being diagnosed with Leukaemia in 2012 and consequently having premature ovarian failure. We are struggling to find anything through the normal advertising routes. Does anyone have any other ways that they have found donors? Or any ideas we could try?
I would be grateful for any help. Thank you Smile

Hi, I have seen a few private FB groups where ladies offer being or search for donors, you can check clinics on eggdonationfriends and forums as phoenixrose314 writes (sofeminine co uk) or as pocket1 writes (fertilityfriends co uk) I have read a post mentioning a yahoo group. Hope it helps. Good luck with your search xx

Hi why dont you try the local post offices around the area if they are willing to put up your ad. I had lot of ladies ringing LWH with the reference number. Good luck.
