Please help me with timings?

We're hoping to start our first round of FET soon, but I have a holiday planned am and not sure if I'm being unrealistic with wanting to start this cycle (got my period today). We had a successful fresh IVF about 5 years ago, so I have forgotten some of the basics Blush

So I need to start downregging on CD 21 ( buserilin injections I expect) how long approx does downregging take? Will I need scans through this period, or only once I have bled? How long is that likely to take?

I'll then be taking Progynova to thicken the lining. How long approx does this take? Will I need scans, and if so after how many days of taking the tablets?

Sorry for so many questions - I hope it makes sense

TIA

I think the best thing to do would be to talk timings through with your clinic, they know your treatment better than anyone here can. good luck

I started an FET on Monday (day 21). In case it helps your planning decision, this is the protocol/timetable I was told at my nurse's consultation:-

26 Jan start Buserelin injections for 14 days
10 Feb scan to check if down regged
14 Feb start oestrogen tablets if down regged on 10 Feb
Scan around 2 March to check womb lining
ET then most likely beginning of week of 9 March although she did say tail end around 5 March was an outside possibility

The down regging can take more than 2 weeks. I think during my fresh cycle I took nearly 3 weeks to down reg (although it was 3 years ago so I could be misremembering!). My clinic also always starts the oestrogen tablets on a Saturday apparently so the 4 day delay between scan and oestrogen might not happen in other clinics.

Have you had your nurse's consultation and/or consent appointment? If not, then it might be that your clinic won't have time to fit you in this cycle if you're already on day 2. Although perhaps they are able to work very quickly!

The uncertainty of timings is definitely the worst thing for me about the whole process. Although I was pleasantly surprised by how many fewer scans there are for a FET compared to a fresh cycle.

Just to add, I had my nurse's appointment and day 1 of my cycle on 5 Jan and then basically don't see the clinic again until 10 Feb so there is a big gap at the beginning so time to go on holiday if you're happy to take your drugs with you!

Thankyou so much for your replies.

Good luck with this cycle Badger.

Looking realistically then I think I'll aim for day 21 next cycle to be the start. I still need blood tests and a baseline scan (although having the latter on Monday) and arrange for embies to be moved to a different clinic. Hmmm I think I'll plan my holiday in March and discuss with the clinic when all other tests/admin is sorted.
