Hi All,

I was offered quite bad news at the fertility clinic yesterday: at 33, I won't have a menstruation any longer as my blood levels and the state of my eggs suggest that I'm in menopausal stage.

I still question this result as I feel I'm far too young, don't have any of the symptoms that come with the menopause; I am also in very good shape, am quite sporty, have not been of sick in years... but anyway.

The only chance to get pregnant seems to be via egg-donation. Browing the market (primarily in Spain and Czech Republic) I am overwhelmed by the choice and I wonder if anyone here has made positive experience with any particular fertility clinic abroad?

I would greatly appreciate any advice.

Thank you and best wishes,

D

Sorry to hear your diagnosis Doris. I had the same bomb shell dropped on me two years ago, also at 33. OMG I've missed my menopause. How the hell...? Tis shit and somewhat floored me for a time, I hope you're bearing up OK? The whole thing including the donor egg stuff takes some getting your head around but you'll get there.

I can't help with foreign clinics unfortunately. We've made the decision to stick with UK treatment but I wanted to wish you lots of luck and if there's anything else POF related I can help with just shout up. Are you on HRT? If you're considering DEIVF it would be a good move to keep everything in working order until you start treatment.

Thanks CC for your support and words. It helps to know that I'm not the only one... Yes, HRT is due also because of the side-effects of not doing it. I find it really difficult to find a good clinic as anyone can build a fancy website and it's very difficult to get hold of independent reviews. But as you say, I shall get there.
Thanks again, DH

Have a look at www.fertilityfriends.co.uk/forum/index.php?board=551.0 for some reviews on European clinics too.

Hello Doris, Try not to worry, it is an awful shock to hear the news you have been given. Its a big step to take. Not sure where you live but CARE in Northampton have virtually no waiting for egg donation. Karen Faulkner is the co-ordinator there and she will be happy to talk to you. Or you could try NGDT they are the UK support organisation for egg and sperm donation. Check out the websites. Not all clinics in the UK have long waiting lists and I really hope you get the help you need. Good luck.

Hi Doris, sorry to hear your news. Another reco for Fertility Friends here. Have a look at Reprofit and Gennet in Prague and Serum in Greece all have very good reputations and results. Gennet have a sister clinic in London called City Fertility where you can do some consulting / scans/ appointments. You'll also find a lot of people who are in a similar position - with some very positive stories about how DE has worked out for them and really useful advice. Best of luck.
