Infertility

What could this mean?.....

Hi ladies,

A month or so ago my husband had a SA that returned a zero sperm result. We were both devastated as you could imagine. As our gp wasn't very hopeful at all. He was sent for a retest about a week ago , before our fertility app ( we are on a waiting list to be seen) this result came back extremely low. 4 sperm in total( 2 dead 2 with very low mobility but alive!) we are over the moon as this is a very small but positive bit of hope. However our gp could not offer us any info as to why or what this meant. And we would have to wait for our fertility app, which could take up to 12 weeks.

I just wondered if this has happened with anyone else and what it meant for you??

Many thanks

I'm sorry to read your news.

The 'good' thing is that they found two alive sperm - they can use those or any that are there for ICSI! What they will probably do is a testicular biopsy - taking immature sperm cells directly from the teste. This obviously has less success than fresh normal sperm BUT it works! I know at least one person who now has a child who used this method.

Why not post on fertilityfriends.co.uk ? They are so helpful and there are lots of people in exactly the same situations x
