Is it time to talk to my sister about surrogacy?

My poor wonderful fantastic little sister has just had her second round of IVF fail. I know how much she wants a baby and I'm lucky enough to have 2 beautiful children. I think my family is complete It seems to bl**dy unfair that she's in this position :(

Is it an option for me to be a surrogate for her? what (other than the obvious!) is involved?

I've not spoken to her about this yet she's too sore and sad just now but the time will come when she'll be thinking about what to do next. Is this the time to talk to her? How many rounds of IVF is typical? Should she try again or start considering other options?

Does anyone have any xperience of this I'd really welcome any constructive views.

My friend was born without a cervix/womb, and her sil is carrying their twins for them, due next month.

They went to a london clinic and so far have spent £12,000. Even though the twins are biologically theirs, sil and my friend's dp are to be on the birth cert, until the adoption takes place. They have had many emotional problems during the process but are thrilled too.

They fell pregnant on the first round, and they've been very supportive of their sil's children - due to the fact of the strain of a twin pregnancy.

They had a couple of family members offering to be the surrogate, although they always knew this was their only route.

How does your DP feel about you possibly doing this? It really is an amazing thing to do.

Sounds a kind thought. However I guess she needs to feel her IVF journey is over first. Fr eg does she have any frozen embryos left to transfer. Have they identified why they Ivf failed, is it her eggs or her immune system or her womb lining etc? If it is her eggs then that will affect any future treatments including surrogacy. We were told to expect to need 3 attempts.
