Hi

I am going in for my first scan on day two of my cycle tomorrow to start the IUI cycle. I have a huge pack of medication to inject but feeling lost with it all. Is it normal that they will tell me tomorrow at the scan what to take and how? I haven't been shown how to do the injection and now I am wondering if the nurses should have already done this? I've got Gonasi and Fostimon to inject?? All pretty overwhelming and scary at the moment as I think I may need to be injecting from tomorrow and haven't got a clue.... I hope it's normal to be this worried! :)

in my experience they show you how to do the first injection. It is scary cos it's so unusual but honestly you do one and you're an expert.

Don't worry - try and sleep tonight.

Hi there, I had my first iui cycle last month and it was totally fine. The injections are really easy and the needle is so fine you don't really feel it at all. The nurses should show you the first one and then you'll be fine. Best of luck xxx

Thank you. I did my first one last night and it wasn't as bad as I thought. The nurses did teach me how to do it after all!

Had a mild reaction ten mins after where I felt hot and a bit faint...hoping it was just doing the jab. Minor stomach pains in the night so just let the clinic know. They said to ring back tomorrow if any more SE's. I am on a low dose so not sure why I am getting any SEs. Hope it doesn't jeopardise the treatment....:)

I'm glad for this thread, I start my first round of iui in may if I'm not pregnant by then which is unlikely. Great to hear other people's experiences. I didn't even realise that you had to inject with iui! Good luck :)

I am on 75 only and have gonal to inject when the follicles are ready. Got my second scan on weds to check progress with possible insemimination on Thursday if ready.

Got more small shooting pains in lower ab last night and some lower back ache. Don't think my ovaries are liking it! Will ring clinic again later. I am happy to put up with the pain as it isn't too bad but don't want to put up with it if it is a bad reaction...eek.

Happilymarried155 - good luck to you. I don't think you necessarily have to inject with IUI. I think there is a natural cycle option but I guess the drugs help it along especially if levels are low. The nurses said that IVF is more drug intensive. I am on waiting list for IVF and will start in July. Doing 1-2 rounds of IUI first but the chances are pretty low. Not looking forward to IVF at all! :)

Just a quick update...had my second scan today and I had two leading follicles so I responded well to the treatment. I kind of guessed that through all the twinges! Took my trigger shot this afternoon and we are due to inseminate at 3pm tomorrow....just one more part of the process until we wait for the results.

:)

Hi gold, good to hear you responded well to the treatment, fingers crossed for you. I'm just one step behind you, got to do trigger this morning and then procedure tomorrow at 10.45. Hope yours goes well later, everything crossed for you. Let us know how it goes xxx

Hi Tillyann, it all went well and more pain free than I expected. I had a lovely young female nurse do the procedure and she was very gentle unlike some of these male drs who are impatient and don't seem to understand that it is sensitive down there! It was over in ten mins. The speculum was uncomfortable but just like a smear, the rest I hardly felt. I rested for ten mins and then drove home with OH. After all the cramps of the last week I felt good in comparison. I had a couple of trips to the loo but that's all. Some minor cramps on and off, small twinges but really nothing bad at all. Now it's the waiting game... I hope it all goes well for you today and please do let us know how it goes for you. Good luck. X

Well my period announced itself four days early in the middle of the night last night. I had been having some brown spotting and had hoped it was implantation bleeding. I didn't even get to take a test and I am normally every 28 days so really frustrating. Will now have to wait for IVF which starts in July. A sad day but I have to remember we have three IVFs attempts yet which have much higher chances of success....

Good luck to everyone else who also did IUI this month, hope someone gets some good news. X
