I'm really depressed by this article. The debate between Israel and the Occupied Territories is so polarised it's nigh on pointless trying to have it at all, each one is at the point where they find it impossible to recognise the others basic humanity.

I think in this situation, Livingstone is right in trying to draw parallels between both sides. It's a symbolic point that each side attemts to ignore but its the bloody elephant in the room and nothing will ever be close to being solved until they see it.

Neither has the high moral ground even though Israel is always attempting to claim it. I hate to see columinsts do this. It's so irresponsible, IMO.

In calling everyone who tries to get their head around this debate 'antisemetic' only isolates the Israeli position more too. They are a traumatised nation and as a consequence are so reactionary it's self defeating.

I have read an article by Phillips before and was surprised by just how measured she was, as I generally find her just as inflammatory as this guy. On this occasion I agreed with alot of her points. The link he has in this doesn't work though, so I don't know if it's the same one.

Personally I like Ken alot and think he is a great mayor. However I dont think he should not get involved in the politics of israel and palestine because it is irrelevant to his job. It is also dodgy to bunch all these terrorists together because they follow some form of islamic faith. Many muslims denounce them saying these are not muslims because real muslims do not go about blowing people up in this way just to get some attention.

an incredibly biased article - in fact there is a lot of similarity between Likud and Hamas: the leader of Likud ( Sharon) invaded Beirut and is a mass killer. Plus he shares his job position ( Israeli PM) with a known terrorist ( Menachim Begin, a member of the Stern gang which blew up the King David Hotel among other things). So the lovely Mr Goldsten is wrong !
