How many up-sides do you want to seeing the back of this government? It will presumably go down in history as one of the worst governments of all time. I welcome the Conservatives with open arms, and hope they stay in for a whole lot longer than this lot.

(Though 'tis true that being universally loathed is the fate of all governments).

Hate the prospect. Can't help thinking that once David "Caring" Cameron gets in, he will nip into the nearest phone box and emerge dressed at maggie T. He is much more right-wing than he appears, IMO.

I really hope the conservatives get in because I think they will look seriously as the coutryside issues, and I think they change the current defence policy (which, to be honest, cannot get any worse!) to properly support the Forces.

Most of our friends (and us!) have been hoping for a Tory govt for years.

Well the conservatives won last time, at least they had more votes, it's just Labour had shifted all the boundries and doo-daa's so they could keep their greedy little selves in power .

I think the people around the country are very angry about a wealth of things but the main topic on the doorstep is the eu treaty, they want the vote and Labour wont give it to them (booooo), it's the main topic of conversation, if they held a referendum now all bets would be off. (not the promise of one either like last time).

Labour really have no clue what the people of this country want.

I would have thought the economy but thinking about it, I do wonder in Labour areas if the EU, immigration and so on is proxy for people feelng less well off and blaming 'foriners'?

I can't see any upsides to the tories getting in as they will cut everything(health and education will go down the pan again just as my boy is starting school, more babies will die from lack of midwives etc etc) while being nice to anyone earning over £100k because obviously they are more worthy than the rest of us.

But i can't stand labour either. Gordon Brown has to be the most dishonest man alive. Does he think we are totally stupid to believe his lies?

I want to emigrate, or form an independent government of the only good ones in there like Vince Cable as Chancellor and Clare Short as Foreign Secretary. Can't think of any other good ones, so it'd be a pretty small government.

atlantis i think you will find that the tories are as guilty as sin when it comes to changing boundaries. and several MPs ditched their seats in 1996 for favour of safer ones.....more commonly known as the chicken run.

upsides? well at least it will show them up for what the tories really are. and like op says, in for a term, out for another two or three or even four.

I'm bloody lucky. i can afford care for my father who has alzheimers, private education for my children, PMI so i dont have to really on the NHS..... but i still would never, ever, vote for a party which traditionally has underinvested in every single part of the welfare state to the point they were at their knees. doesnt anyone remember what the nhs was like in 1997?

I'm glad I live in Scotland TBH. Cameron is less popular here than Margaret Thatcher was and that's saying something.

It's been said that a lot of the Tory vote will come from the fact that there is no real viable opposition to the Labour that everyone is so sick of.

For me personally, the things which spring immediately to mind are: big steps in various equality issues, including gender equality and gay rights, more paid maternity leave, right to request flexible working, huge investment in education and NHS, minimum wage.
