What an amazing achievement!

I saw him running near me (Lake District). Very impressive, esp as he had just run up an enormous hill.

minko Tue 15-Sep-09 16:13:28

Oh fab. Quite a random thing for him to do though isn't it? Wonder if he did any of it in drag...

ilovemydogandmrobama Tue 15-Sep-09 16:14:25

He's doing it for Comic Relief?

What an amazing guy! grin

HeadFairy Tue 15-Sep-09 16:14:34

minko

I was just thinking how we'd heard so little about it, so unlike irritating twit face who swam the channel... from Little Britain.... can't even remember his name now!

claricebeansmum Tue 15-Sep-09 16:15:20

He's fab is Eddie.
He doesn't look like he has a runner's physique so it must have hurt.

HeadFairy Tue 15-Sep-09 16:16:08

I love his comment, he's going to raise "billions" for Comic Relief!

Ponders Tue 15-Sep-09 16:16:45

27 miles a day for 6 weeks?????

WOW!

"I might as well say I've just eaten a car." grin

Has he got a justgiving page?

odearyme Tue 15-Sep-09 16:20:37

I saw him jogging through my town in Leicester last week, couldn't beleive it!

hatwoman Tue 15-Sep-09 16:21:43

I saw this today. I'm completely stunned - mainly because, like someone else says he doesn;t have a runner's physique, and also because he trained for FIVE weeks. I have a friend who's doing the marathon des sable in a couple of years' time - and he's already training! and I've just finished reading a book about equally ridiculous things like the Bob Graham round and BG plus (Bob Graham round is 42 Lake District peaks in 24 hours, the record for the most LD peaks in 24 hours is 77. equivalent in height and distance to climbing everest 5 times. or something like that) - but I think it confirms what I've long suspected about such extreme achievements - it's all in the mind.

hatwoman Tue 15-Sep-09 16:25:36

I was wrong. it's closer to one everest. but there was a guy who did every peak in eth LD in a week - and taht was about 5 everests iirc

Bleh Tue 15-Sep-09 16:26:32

I do love him, he's an amazing person. Like after the Mumbai attacks, he went to visit a fan who missed his shows in hospital (without dragging along the paparazzi etc.). Other "celebs" have a lot to learn from him.

ShowOfHands Tue 15-Sep-09 16:29:27

He's quite wonderful.

SomeGuy Tue 15-Sep-09 16:29:29

Apparently he has got faster - from 10 hours to 5 hours.

warthog Tue 15-Sep-09 16:30:44

he is so fabulous! multi-talented and gorgeous.

HeadFairy Tue 15-Sep-09 16:33:15

A 5 hour marathon is pretty impressive if you're doing one every day.. it's pretty impressive if you're just doing it as a one off, but one a day shock I'm still reeling from the effort he's put in!

PortBlacksandResident Tue 15-Sep-09 16:44:04

I tried to read it earlier but that spider got in the way blush - honest i'll try again now with my hand over the screen.

HeadFairy Tue 15-Sep-09 17:20:16

Blimey, I hadn't even seen the spider... just scroll down to the map.... it's quite impressive!

ProfYaffle Tue 15-Sep-09 17:22:47

It's amazing isn't it? I've been following his tweets re this on Twitter.

posieparker Tue 15-Sep-09 17:26:33

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful man.

TheFoosa Tue 15-Sep-09 17:28:15

Sir Eddie we salute you

I miss him doing comedy though

latestincarnation Tue 15-Sep-09 17:36:10

I heart Eddie Izzard grin

persephonesnape Tue 15-Sep-09 18:03:09

<salutes eddie> well done sir. remarkable achievement, done, i think for the publicity of the cause rather than self aggrandisement.

edam Tue 15-Sep-09 18:52:55

ooh, my sister was telling me she saw him in the lanes near Northampton the other day and wondered exactly what he was up to.

I know people who have come across him at work and say he's a very, very, very nice man indeed.

Nancy66 Tue 15-Sep-09 19:04:43

wow - that's amazing. That really is going to take it's toll on the body. Good for him.

I was equally impressed with David Walliams swimming the channel
