Women are failing to call 999 when they experience heart attack symptoms because they have been encouraged to be on the alert for "crushing chest pain" and an "inability to breathe", and they don't want to make a fuss, when in fact they are more likely to experience symptoms like "A dull pain, ache or 'heavy' feeling in the chest...
a mild discomfort in the chest that makes you feel generally unwell"- according to the bbc news on the radio this morning, which stressed that men and women seem to experience quite different symptoms. Here is the online report.
Worth bearing in mind, as women are 3 times more likely to die if a heart attack than of breast cancer. Don't be worried about making a fuss!
