Model with flabby tummy shocks the world

According to the Daily Mail

How sad is that? That we are so used to the airbrushed perfection of models that a tiny pic of a normal woman causes such a fuss.

She is 5ft 11in and 12 1/2st and is considered too big to model plus sizes

I think she looks fab. I have a wee tummy just like hers and she has made me feel much better about it.

She's quite fat for 20!

I didn't read the article before looking at the picture and assumed this woman was in her mid-30s (stretch marks and post-pregnancy tummy...)

Anna she isn't fat at all, talk sense .

I thought that too, that she was in her 30s.

I don't think that she is fat though. She is lovely and curvy.

It's very unhealthy to have fat like that on your tummy - especially so young. No doctor would approve!

She looks fab, she does have a tummy, nowt some sit ups couldn't tone up (snort, because it is that easy!), the rest of her is gorgeous.
She has a normal tummy that most women have, she is very beautiful.

Well I'm a doctor and I do approve. She could do far worse things for her health than be a little overweight, eg smoking or binge drinking, and I think sends a more healthy and realistic body image to young girls than your average stick thin model who has a body shape which is frankly unobtainable for your average human female.

She looks about a size ten twelve how is that unhealthy?

I thought she looked really slim. Can't believe she weighs 12 1/5 stone, or that she is considered to large to model plus size clothing. The world has gone mad!!!!

Thanks liath that is so true!

She looks fab to me!

You need to have a lot more fat than this to be unhealthy.

I am 5'11" an weigh 12 1/2st and tho I would like to lose a few ounds (I used to weigh a lot less in my 20s) I do not consider that I am overweight, and my BMI is around 24.5, so I guess the upper end of 'normal'
I wear a size 12/14, sometimes a 16 in trousers depending on the shop.
Wish I was as good looking as that model tho!

she has a slight tummy in the picture she is also leaning forward which would make it show more if you looka tthe pic of the same woman further doun she looks lovely and curvy not fat at all or airbrushed to within an inch of her life.
I think its a much healthier image to portray than a size 0 model who looks like a boy (no hips or breasts)

Anna, you're gonna get flamed here, I suspect the majority of peeps on here have a higher bmi than the model. Model's bmi is fine at 5'11" and 12st7lb (24.45). Mine was 26.03 when got pg, so I could certainly stand to lose a few pounds (after baby).

Saying that having a flat tummy aged 20 is somehow unobtainable is really lazy and defeatist.

Here in Paris no-one is fat like that - women of all ages have flat tummies. People here eat proper meals rather than graze and munch biscuits, and they walk rather than drive.

The trouble is, when you are surrounded by overweight people on a daily basis, you start to think that overweight is normal.

she looks gorgeous. it is shocking to see a weirdy flappy tummy given the usual images we see.

She looks beautiful, and totally normal. I've always had a tummy like that, even in my late teens when I was very fit - it's just my natural shape.

It's terrible that she is too big to model plus size for some brands - what on earth is that about

Erm , who says we want to look like women in Paris? They are not the most sexy or most healthy (Italians are

liath · 03/09/2009 08:36

Last time I went to Paris a fair proportion of those flat-tummied women had cigarettes in their mouths which to me looked a hell of a lot more unattractive than a woman with a few curves.

That must have been quite a long time ago, then, liath, as smoking in public places is very rare these days. It is illegal!

I thought she looked a bit odd for a childfree 20 - she looks like someone's who's had a baby

Does a normal 'fat belly' do that? I thought it was only a post-pregnancy stretched belly that did that floppy rolling-down thingy

My tummy is quite similar after having 2 kids,it's really reasuring to see a model looking the same, you must look like a stick insect if you think shes fat BonsoirAnna,if they showed more pics like this we'd all feel alot better about ourselves!
