Just heard this on the news. trying to find the link on BBC website.

Basically, she asked some teenage girls to be quiet during the HP film. After the film, the woman took her kids to resturant. Girls followed her and poured bleach over her.

I don't know what to say!

Absolutely awful - the poor woman and her family. Hope she's OK, and hope they catch the little shits

I think when you're with your kids your instinct is to avoid confrontation. Not many people would consider it confrontational to ask a bunch of noisy teenagers to pipe down during a film.

Poor woman. I must admit I would go and find a cinema employee to remonstrate with a group of dodgy teenagers rather than do it myself

Yep, hope the nasty wretches are made an example of

My god but what kind of mentality do some people have - regardless of age - to be able to do something like that.

Nasty enough to abuse the family verbally after the film but perhaps could be put down to bad teenage behaviour. This, this goes beyond bad though.

What a load of nutters! They went out armed with bleach on purpose? Or did they buy it in a shop next door....hope they find them on cctv.
Sometimes i think girl gangs are worse than teenage boys

There was a violent incident at the Harry Potter film on MN a couple of days ago. Again to do with kids not behaving in the cinema.
Think I may not go tomorrow after all!

Awful

Where did it say girls?

The poor woman. It's no wonder so many people are afraid to ever confront people, with incidents like this, and that poor man that was kicked to death by a teenage gang.

Curiousmama - I think the first reports said "girls" - obviously it's been updated with more details which show the little shits were a mixture of male and female.

This is appalling behaviour from teenagers.

Being a Guide leader I always feel really sad when things like this are reported, as most teenagers are not like this. A few seem to regress into some sort of Lord of the Flies mentality, which is sad in itself, but they all then get tarred with the same brush.

Sometimes I think it's the fact that people are not willing to confront bad behaviour, even something as trivial as talking in a cinema, that has led to young people behaving this way. But then people won't confront, when this could be the consequence.

A vicious circle.

The scary thing is it's not a spur of the moment thing, they thought about it and followed the family in order to carry out the atatck.

I really hope they catch them. And throw the book at them.

These chemical attacks seem to be becoming more usual as well, I blame CSI...

What teenagers carry bleach around with them? Are they expecting to come across a loo that needs cleaning? WTF is that all about?

Shocking beyond belief.

They have a very twisted mentality to do soemthing like this, that poor woman & her family

I wonder if they've been caught yet? I hope so although some do-gooders will say 'oh it's because of their background' etc.... and they'll get some pathetic punishment.
Sorry but doesn't wash with me, I have plenty of friends who had shit childhoods and wouldn't dream of this in a million years.

They didn't carry the bleach with them, afaik. They were verbally abusive to her in the cinema when she told them to be quiet, then later on in Frankie and Benny's car park they threw the bleach over her - which must mean that they went and got bleach from somewhere, which in turn means they planned the attack

Agree, Curious. I bet their lawyer pleads "poor family background" when it finally gets to court and they get off with a suspended sentence or community service.

But who on earth would even think of using bleach as a weapon? It just wouldn't have occurred to me as a teenager. I wouldn't have known enough about it to know it was an effective weapon.

I just saw this too. It really is disgusting. Her eyesight might be permanently damaged.

We live in Budapest at the moment but are planning a move back to UK in 2 years. TBH things like this really make me think twice. Australia is looking like a good option.
