Yes, but it's fine as long as you go the butterfly stroke, then the sperm don't recognise you as a human species and leave you alone

The flip side is just how did that poor 13 year old girl end up pregnant

Soupy is right of course, it is a tragedy that such a young girl is in this position. But her parents must have some brass neck to come out with this proposal as an explanation.

She is suing? Who on earth is representing her?

i know SD, that thought crossed my mind, surely the mother should be looking at ity from that angle rather than suing a hotel.

I guess they'd rather believe that than the alternative.

I was prepared to laugh until I realised the "teen" was only 13.

Well it makes a change from mumsnetters discussing having a baby in water to making one. But it's still bollocks.

Some of the comments on the article page are repellent. Clearly they haven't realised how young the girl is. The Sun has been misleading with the use of the word "teen" in the headline, clearly aiming for laughs. Had it read "thirteen year old girl pregnant after ?swimming in pool?" the feel would have been different

agree soupy and WMMC.

either her parents really believe that that is how you get pregnant. although one would assume that they conceived her the more traditional way

or teh shame of underage/out of wedlock sex is so totally abhorrent to them , that they would rather believe she got pregnant via a swimming pool

awful stuff., poor gilr

Reminds me of a famous story in the bible.......you know, the one where Mary got pregnant by 'immaculate' conception - course you did love.

Anyone who has ever seen the Maury show knows how convincing women can be about the alleged father of their child.

But what will she put on the birth cert?

Father: swimming pool in Egypt.

I havent read it yet, so dont have the facts but wouldnt the chlorine in swimming pools kill the sperm?

Report
GIvePeasAChance · 09/07/2009 13:17

Begs another question..............do men actually wank in swimming pools? This story seems accepting of the fact that there is just sperm hanging around swimming pools as a matter of course.

id have thought that would have been a chucking out offense. lol

I think the joking is at the mother for being so silly not the child. The mother is being an idiot and making a laughing stock of herself. The child is in an awful situation and needs proper help to get through this not a parent who wants to concentrate on a law suit rather than her child.

poor kid. Being pregnant at 13 is such a tragedy, let alone having to face it while dealing with parents who are clearly barking.
